RIP KOBE BRYANT

sad Hoping this isn't true.

Kobe Bryant died in a helicoper crash in Calabasas Sunday morning ... TMZ Sports has confirmed.

Kobe was traveling with at least 3 other people in his private helicopter when it went down. A fire broke out. Emergency personnel responded, but nobody on board survived. 5 people are confirmed dead. We're told Vanessa Bryant was not among those on board.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Yes, I just saw this too. It's terrible news. I'm trying to watch the Raptors/Spurs game and it's difficult watching the players. They are heartbroken. My thoughts are with Kobe's family. Devastating news.

The only detail I heard is his wife was NOT on the helicopter. I feel so bad for her loss.

Even worse *IF* she lost a child or children too.

Yeah, it seems his 13 year old daughter was with him. They were headed to his Mamba Basketball Academy, about 15 miles from the crash site. 7 other people (originally reported as 3) were also on board. One was a college coach.

I'm not a sports fan, but he was 41. Just horrible overall.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I don't usually cry when celebrities die, but this felt like a sudden kick in the teeth for me. I cried in 2016 when Bowie and Prince died, and I've cried now with Kobe's death. Bryant/O'Neal's Lakers is what turned me into a NBA/L.A.Lakers fan, as a 14-15 yo (I liked Jordan but never cared for the Bulls, I rooted for the Jazz in 1998).

Retiring as a Basketball/NBA legend and then winning an Oscar just to die in a meaningless helicopter accident just shows how fragile we are. Death is not meaningless, but accidents are. I'll never understand the fixation of celebrities with helicopters (flying death traps). His daughter also dying left me numb; I went to bed early yesterday, I felt empty.

Jerry West said it all....."today was just a godawful day".

Haven't felt this sad about a celebrity passing since Prince, and when I first heard about Magic's HIV announcement (at the time, many thought it was a death sentence).

This fucking sucks.....RIP to all

A father of a boy with cancer called in to say that Kobe was so kind and generous with his son. (It was a 'make a wish' type thing).

He said he was so genuine. He also said that Kobe had already spent one-on ones with over 200 kids with cancer.

Had to reach for the tissue box on this one. I wasn't a huge fan but I give him his props. Shocked by how much it affected me. I'm ok until I start thinking of his daughter. When your number comes up in that rolodex that is an appointment none of us will be late for.

Let us put pettiness behind us and live and love.

This one bothers me a lot. On the scale of Prince, for some reason. It's not like I 100% followed Kobe. But damn, I feel for his wife and other daughters, and the other families. bheart bheart

And what a damn loss, as he was coming into his own.

Things like this never makes sense to me.
