No matter which side of the fence people are on on the issue Gayle King is one classless individual.

No she didn't deserved to be called a bitch but yes she deserved public criticism.

It's almost like she was saying well I stood tall on the R.Kelly issue well let me see if I can pull the hat trick by pulling up Kobe's past rape accusation.

Even if she felt the feminism/MeToo movement here she had no business bringing
the shit up during an interview with Lisa Leslie. It was totally disrepectful to Kobe's family.

Who's to say the young woman in the incident wasn't looking for a big payday and lied? If you weren't there and there was no evidence you have no say in what happened.

Oprah with her bullshit crying over Gayle lol

Please how about show some compassion for Kobe and her family and the other victims on the plane. And we are still waiting for Oprah and Gayle to publicly condemn their friend Harvey Weistein

for being a douchebag and rapist to women. They are so feminist but they still are silent when it comes to him. They both can kiss my ass right now.

[Edited 2/11/20 12:25pm]

Should the rape be swept under the rug, just because Kobe has died?

Didn't Kobe pay her off?

Sure I think Gayle should've stayed in her lane, for the time being and it didn't need to be brought up as soon as he died, but hell it did happen.

I think Gayle thought it was all fine and dandy what she did, UNTIL she heard from Snoop. smile That's when her and Oprah started worrying.

There's a long tradition and history in the Black community, critique of Black male behavior is neither questioned or brought up.. This is why we accept and live in crime ridden communities. Of course Snoop comes out with this black woman is in bed to bring the black man down bullshit. Belived me black men are and continue to be their own worst enemy. My goodness they've been crying that shit since my grandmother time b1895 and my mother time, she turns 95 in a couple of weeks.

Gayle King said, she objected how the full interview was cut and pasted. Instead of waiting to see the entire invterview, Snoopt threatened Mr. King. This facts are Kobe Bryant would have stood trial for allegedly raping a hotel employee. After the local DA somehow someway accidental released their game plan their case, via Internet for all to see... the young women dropped the case. Why did this happen? Because that town didn't want to deal with the media circus but more importantly the cost of Kobe's trial would have sucked up the entire budget of the DA. At some point it was floated taxes would have to raised to recover that money and the community demurred. Facts. Kobe apologize to the woman and cut her a check? Why?

When people tell you its not the right time to talk about anything, the objective is to not talk about it ever.

That's the key! Was there actually a rape? We weren't there. Only Kobe and this girl would know

this. During his press conference he stated that the only thing he was guilty of was adultery. It's not my place to say there was a rape or wasn't because I wasn't there and there has been no evidence made to the public to assume there was one. Nobody was thinking are talking about this case until he died. He rehabilitated his image(which was damaged by the accusation) so what's the point of Gayle bringing the shit up? It was unprofessional in the manner in which she did it and for what? Journalist of the year? This wasn't an R.Kelly moment here. Trust me I despise him as much as I despise number 45. They are both pieces of shit so it's not a matter of let's look out for the black man shit here. If Kobe were still alive today Gayle would never have asked Lisa Leslie that question during an interview about her. Gayle just took the opportunity like some dick racist Trump supporter to tear the man down because he was getting praise for the man he had become after his playing days. I'm still waiting for someone to tell me why she hasn't publicy condemned Harvey Weinstein since we all are # Me Too Feminist these days. Nope I'm not knocking the movement but you can't bring that into play for every accusation. You have to treat every accusation carefully because yes believe it or not a woman can lie too to get what she wants.

Unfortunately, I agree with much of the first paragraph. I also agree that it is understandable that folks don't want to hear about Kobe's transgressions right after his death, but of greater concern is that that really means

it is NEVER to be talked about.

I think Kobe evolved and became more mature and was able to deal with and learn from his earlier behavior. It was Snoop who took it way too far and many followed, which was so disturbing...death threats??

phunkdaddy you should be ashamed of yourself; the hypocrisy is stifling.

So then why should anybody believe black men when are beaten and/or shot by the police? I wasn't there? Maybe the police has cause to "fear for his life." neutral When my husband has gotten a ticket, he mentions it and pays the ticket. WHen when the men in my life come home and told me, I was stopped by the police today: I know they where stopped for no reason, the car was searched from front to back, they may have had to lay in the street face down, or layover the car hood in handcuffs, and possibly police said something hoping to provoke them.

Can you imagine me questioning my man, brother, nephews or the men I've defended on why they were stopped? Men don't rape. The majority of black women are raped by men in their families. Did you hear me brotha.... the men in their familes.

I have a story, my mother has a story, some of the mother's friend have a story, women friends, women acquiescence's have stories and I'm learning more and more men have a stories too.

Its not uncommon. I don't know how old you are PeggyO. The late playwright Ntozake Shange was ran out of the Black community after her play came out, "For Colored Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Still Not Enough" . At one point Ms. Shange had to move to Europe for her safety. The vicious verbal attack and physical attacks by black men was unreal. There were black men in the arts community who defended Ms. Shange... women had the right to tell their stories. Its happened before over and over again. We as Black people seem to be very comfortable in lying all the time about everything. No self-reflection, unwilling to own up to wrongs or call out people who hurt others.

I totally agree with all you've said. Snoop attacked Ms. King when the New York Times and others broached the subject of what happen in 2003. Punk ass didn't say shit about that, why? Black males like Snoop are terrified of white men and they aren't going to do shit. That's why Snoop threatened and went after Gayle King. When men can't stand to hear the truth or negative things about them, violence is how they keep others silent.

One thing all men can agree on, many think their hardon is everybody's problem... they have a right to violate women, children... little boys and little girls. But I guess those children are lying too to bring a man down. Pathetic, delusional, rotten mindset. Its far more the rules than its the exception.

Hypocrisy? eek I feel you when you talk about police harassment and I 100% believe you when you say the men in your family have been subjected to this. We are comparing apples and oranges here though. I'm not dismissing rape as a whole at all. I'm questioning the lack of professionalism Gayle" The Lying" King displayed here.

Now TD3 when you say hypocrisy what is it that I'm exactly being hypocritical about?

I never said sexual harassment/rape against women doesn't widely exist but are we to assume

that every woman that opens her mouth and claim she was raped is fact.

Let's look at the 2006 case of Crystal Mangum a stripper who falsely accused 3 members of Duke's Lacrosse team. The coach was forced to resign and they canceled the rest of the season.

This same chick killed her boyfriend several years later and was found to have a history of domestic violence with the men she was involved with. Just think of the public humiliation and stress that she brought these young men and their families. You have to be fair and objective.

Again what was Gayle's point? She was too chicken shit to bring this up when Kobe was alive and it was an act of cowardice to bring this up during an interview with Lisa Leslie. She owes Kobe's wife and kids an apology and to her employer for bringing them into her mess.

You have a story. I have a story regarding this same topic. It really is my story.

Russell Simmons and 50cent employ this intimidation as well.

Oprah had just gotten over her experience with Russell Simmons and then she had to help Gayle with Snoop.

It's uncalled for and not a good look, IMO.

Kobe was vastly more mature.

The only reason why punk ass Snoop apologized was, Wed MSNBC tore into him. Once again when a white man saying something, bowing and shuffling begins.

I'm aware there are false accusations, but those false accusations are clearly in the minority but the majority of rapes that accrue happen. Yes, hypocrisy? Our communities is washed with murder, Black men keeping use all off the streets, robbing, stealing, killing, and raping is a every day experience. Yet, our community stays silence because this tired rhetoric, of you bring done black men.

You are brave...

When I was in my early 30's, I was single, adventurous and naive. I was from an affluent town but wanted to live in Oakland as I craved and appreciated diversity of cuisine, music, culture etc.

I decided to withdraw some funds from my own home to purchase a rental home in a 'transitional'

neighborhood which I thought had promise. I had to learn 'street' quickly. Some of my neighbors taught me how to recognize stolen cars, signs that the "block was hot", to manage the dealers etc.

I'm scared now that I went through this.

But, I learned quickly who was in charge of the streets. My tenant reported several bullets through the front window. The following Easter, one of the lovely drug dealers threw a flower pot through the picture window etc. There was open dealing etc. These experiences made me quite a bit less liberal. Name of the game is "if you snitch, expect retaliation"

I suffered alot and thank God for the Oakland Police Dept.

I thank you for bringing this up as I know it draws ire.

that every woman that opens her mouth and claim she was raped is fact.

Gayle King didn't lie! WTF What she did was ask a question about the incident in Colorado. Kobe is was accused and charge for allegedly raping a women. Facts. If i recall nobody bought up again until Kobe's tragic death. Everybody bought up, still King had a right to say what she wanted too.

The only reason why punk ass Snoop apologized was, Wed MSNBC tore into him. Once again when a white man saying something, bowing and shuffling begins.

I'm aware there are false accusations, but those false accusations are clearly in the minority but the majority of rapes that accrue happen. Why you think King shouldn't have bought it up is beyond me. Tell Snoop to go after Washington Post, The LA Times, The New York Times, in every paper and news agency spoke of his case in 2003. Did Snoop threaten there's lives, but Snoop's cowardly ass went after King. A fool who's claim of fame is glamorizing Black men killing each other. The same ol same 'ol, talking shit and creating an imaginary life having "power" .... by killing each other. and terrorizing our community. Again, silence about the shit that come out of Snoops mouth and other black males.

Yes, hypocrisy? Our communities is washed with murder, Black men keeping use all off the streets, robbing, stealing, killing, and raping is a every day experience. Yet, our community stays silence because this tired rhetoric, of you bring done black men.

We've had a intense disagreement, but I wouldn't call you out of your name. let alone threaten your life.

You preaching to the choir telling me about issues in the black community. I could care less about

Snoop. He's always been a prisoner of the moment since the 90's. Again preaching to the choir. You have to understand Snoop was a close personal friend of Kobe so his frustration was understandable but he just handled it the wrong way.

All the stuff you're talking about in the black community been going on. Unfortunately there is no end in sight to it just like racism and prostitution.

The biggest issue here is Gayle and Oprah's cherry picking. Neither one of the feminists Me Too Movers has said a damn thing about Harvey Weinstein or other prominent white male celebrities who have done foul shit. It's not just me asking this question. Black folks all over social media want to know. Does Harvey have something on them? Or are they afraid of jeopardizing their mainstream audience and income?

So Gayle had a right to disrespect Kobe's wife and daughters by asking questions about his past

allegations to a friend of his before the man and his daughter were even put in the ground?

And for what? To stroke her fucking ego. I never had a problem with her or Oprah until now.

I wouldn't consider our disagreement intense. Shit I'm cool as an air conditioner. lol

Everything you stated about Snoop and the black community is true. We just have a disagreement on this prude wannabe celebrity journalist.

When I said Gayle King lied, I was referring to her deflection blaming CBS. No it wasn't a CBS problem, it was a Gayle King problem. And the only damn hypocrisy I see is with Gayle King herself. She had no problem seeing a flaw in Kobe's past but didn't have the decency to wait until the man and his daughter burial but yet chooses to ignore the many flaws in Harvey Weinstein's past. Tell me what's wrong with this picture. Fuck Gayle King.

How did we go from 9 people dying to black communities? lol

Just a side note, there are black suburban black communities where good men and women are thriving. There just not on your TV screen. If you the so-called black community want to grow the first thing we have to do as men is stop calling our race a color. Recreate a healthy culture together as we don't have no culture because we was stripped of our culture. Stop asking the white community to help us, because we are strong enough to help ourselves. Stop clowning each other and being clowns for money and attention. Remove the real coons (Rapist, liars, murderers, molesters, liberal feminist, gangs, and drug dealers) out our area's. Men stop impregnating thotianna's and complaining about family court (divorce, child support) and learn what a wife is. All pussy ain't it worth it and with the way folks hyigene is today whewww.

Like I said before Men have to start having standards again for the woman they pro-create with. You can't impregnate a thot and get mad when she have the baby drinking liquor out the bottle or leave you all infant in the car to see a DaBaby concert. Pick with your top head and not your bottom. If we start picking wife material women to procreate with we will have uplifting communities. Right now the black thot and black feminist females run the black communities, and it's really sad. We're the only community where the females are running it but asking other communities to respect us let alone our own black women to respect us as leaders. Right now we have pushed the black woman into a losing situation. As men we supposed to bring order and right now we slowly doing that but we have to understand our forefathers didn't leave nothing for us go by. So understand we have to start from ground zero and work our way up without anybody but ourselves men. It's going to be hard because we don't know who to trust or who's with us. But we have to stay strong, rebuild our family structure by turning back to the Most High, finding a wife to submit our love to, and having something to teach our wives and children. Then we can go out build up our communities for the better.

As for ALL of the media outlets, Kobe was alive 20 years for them to ask him about those allegations. When he won the oscar they brought this up but nobody interviewed or asked him about it. I think in my honest opinion it's wrong to bring it up now (basically 2 hours after his death) but if you're going to bring up the allegations bring up everything within the allegations. Talk about how she settled for money and had 2 other men semen in her panties from the same night and how her friends said she bragged about sleeping with Kobe. Lets stop this half truth mess and if people are interested go read all the information from the documentation online.

Oprah is wrong, Gayle is wrong, Snoop is wrong, and all of the media as usual is wrong for using this man death for views and attention. But you know what it's only going to get worse as this society goes down the drain. Right now being disrepectful and lying is praised as righteous and noble while being honest and logical is seen as hate speech and having some form of phobia.

When someone dies, their life is often summarized...good and bad.

And, there are issues in the black community about wanting to sanitize reputations.

I've seen this phenomenon with MJ, Prince, Kobe ad infinitum...

The issue as I see it is that not only may one not bring it up after death, it can never be brought up.

Kobe owned his problems and became a better man/father/husband.

The two were laid to rest last Friday in Corona Del Mar, ahead of a Feb. 24 public memorial at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for all nine victims of the Jan. 26 crash in Calabasas, according to Entertainment Tonight.

If the improptu memorial at Staples is any indication, the public memorial will be huge and emotional. The Byrant Family and the Lakers made sure that all the flowers left there were composted and the basketballs and jersey's donated to youth groups. I think the family kept some of the notes and photos.

I found the whole thing extremely tragic. 9 people lost in the blink of an eye sad

Being from LA, the loss of Kobe Bryant felt like a collective heartache for the City. Sure, he was a sports figure here for 20 years and a huge part of the Laker organization and its success. But the guy was not perfect, in fact he was flawed. He stood accused of rape at the age of 24 - the superstar was brought down to earth and humbled by this act of violence and ignorant entitlement. But after observing him in the years that followed - we saw a Kobe that learned from his mistakes, grow from his mistakes and mature. We saw him develop into an even better athlete and team player, we watched him become a loving father to four girls. We saw him become a better human being.

I think it's OK to bring up the alleged rape, because if we measure his character from that incident to the time of his death, we see who he became and how much more he could have and would have contributed to his community.

We had it on in our office - it was really quite nice. Vanessa's eulogy was very moving but Michael Jordan's was also incredibly emotional. Shaq dropped the MF bomb but it was live TV - very funny moment which lightened the heaviness a bit (as did Jimmy Kimmel who MC'd the event)

Yes, it was well put together nod Vanessa Bryant’s speech about GiGi and Kobe was so insightful (eg.The Notebook (2004) story), heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time bawl pray It was also funny when Michael Jordan made fun of his viral cry-face meme while paying tribute to his little brother biggrin touched and his speech are great thumbs up!
