Reports say the fog was so thick in the area, all other flights were delayed. The pilot asked for special permission to fly in spite of the weather. Makes you wonder why the passengers agreed to fly in spite of knowing the weather conditions instead of just delaying for a couple of hours? Here in Michigan, we have barely had any winter weather this season. Just lots of rain and heavy fog. I HATE driving in fog. Rather drive in snow than fog. A few weeks ago I was driving home and the fog was so thick, I was scared and I was only 3 minutes away from home. Praying and driving about 15 miles per hour. It is almost impossible and downright dangerous to drive in thick fog. I can't even imagine being on a plane in that kind of weather.

This one bothers me a lot. On the scale of Prince, for some reason. It's not like I 100% followed Kobe. But damn, I feel for his wife and other daughters, and the other families. bheart bheart

And what a damn loss, as he was coming into his own.

Things like this never makes sense to me.

Same for me. I almost forgot how it felt losing prince and kobes death sent me back to 2016

The weather was clearer at the outset but towards Calabasas became very foggy. The pilot asked the air traffic controllers to 'keep an eye' on him but he drifted too low and they lost contact. (NYTimes)

Article also mentioned that pilots can feel extra pressure to keep going when they have a VIP onboard.

Just watched a sort of documentary on Kobe. It was so poignant. When he lived in Italy as a young boy, he had to move every 2 years and felt very isolated. It sounded like he was on his own alot and found basketball to be a refuge. He was a deep person.

He was a mentor to many young players and was especially close to Shaq's son and daughter. He had just attended Shaq's daughter's basketball game the day before he died.

Kobe wasn't an easy person to like, especially in his younger years, but I do admire that he came to be more self-aware and was always trying to improve. He was a good dad, believed in his causes and

had the respect of many players.

They are discovering things that weren't exactly kosher. Really should not have been cleared to fly in that weather. Celebrities often get special treatment, in this case fatal. The hindsight stuff is so heartbreaking,

Long read, but interesting...Kobe was a mixed bag, and I totally understand why some folks are still troubled over the incident with the young woman.

No matter which side of the fence people are on on the issue Gayle King is one classless individual.

No she didn't deserved to be called a bitch but yes she deserved public criticism.

It's almost like she was saying well I stood tall on the R.Kelly issue well let me see if I can pull the hat trick by pulling up Kobe's past rape accusation.

Even if she felt the feminism/MeToo movement here she had no business bringing
the shit up during an interview with Lisa Leslie. It was totally disrepectful to Kobe's family.

Who's to say the young woman in the incident wasn't looking for a big payday and lied? If you weren't there and there was no evidence you have no say in what happened.

Oprah with her bullshit crying over Gayle lol

Please how about show some compassion for Kobe and her family and the other victims on the plane. And we are still waiting for Oprah and Gayle to publicly condemn their friend Harvey Weistein

for being a douchebag and rapist to women. They are so feminist but they still are silent when it comes to him. They both can kiss my ass right now.

Should the rape be swept under the rug, just because Kobe has died?

Didn't Kobe pay her off?

Sure I think Gayle should've stayed in her lane, for the time being and it didn't need to be brought up as soon as he died, but hell it did happen.

I think Gayle thought it was all fine and dandy what she did, UNTIL she heard from Snoop. smile That's when her and Oprah started worrying.

The two were laid to rest last Friday in Corona Del Mar, ahead of a Feb. 24 public memorial at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for all nine victims of the Jan. 26 crash in Calabasas, according to Entertainment Tonight.
