Obviously not all English supporters are like that but there seems to be a hooligan element that uses soccer matches as a platform for violence.

i rem this also - the Guards came in bet the f out of them

So far so good for my cousins up North. Hopefully they'll be able to keep Poland at bay and maybe nick a goal near the end.

Not a fan of soccer whatsoever. The thugs and constant violence are a huge turnoff. I'm a huge sports fan, but the behaviour of soccer fans is disgusting.

Just watched a rerun of the England Russia match.

Focusing on the actual match England played very well and deserved to win, but of course when you are only one goal ahead there is always a danger of an equaliser. Russia really spoiled the party for them with their late equaliser which was a good goal despite being one of their very few real chances..

England only really have themselves to blame. I don't know why they insist on having Rooney there. He's one of the most inconsistent players in the world. For every good game he has he has 5 stinkers. They should have gone with Vardy and Kane upfront.

I'm in the United States and am interested in Euro 2016. I wish I could force myself to get up earlier and watch more games. I watched the second half of Germany - Ukraine. I don't have a European rooting interest. Copa America Centenario is easy for me to watch.

As an English man it's sad to see English fans acting like wankers as usual. Hope we go out early. France doesn't need shit like that. mad

You sound like the bias media , you know it was English and Russian and french fans of Marseille football club who was causing the trouble outside the last few days and the russian thugs went for the english fans at the end of the match in the stadium hitting woman and children in the england section, but hey let's just ban the English fans. The russian fans also fired a flare into the english section of the stadium. But i see no one mentioning any of this on this thread. I feel for those english women and children being attacked by the russian thugs in the stadium. But England have a history of thugs in football am not denying that. So will be first to be blamed no matter of the facts.

I'm surprised nobody has made a thread about this already so I thought I'd do it. I know this tournament probably won't mean much to the non Europeans of the org but the NFL ones don't mean much to the non Americans so let's see how it goes wink So, as some of you may or may not know, I'm Irish and I will of course be supporting Ireland in Euro 2016. Obviously, we have no hope of winning (I seriously doubt we'll pick up a single point) but it's rare for Ireland to even qualify for these things so as long as the players don't embarrass themselves, it'll be drinks all 'round (though not for me, I don't drink) Germany is who I'm predicting to win, though if it won't be Ireland (and it WON'T be Ireland) I'd like to see England or Wales go all the way.

Thanks for your support for England , always had soft spot for the Irish. Good luck to your team too. cool

Any country with a hooliganism problem that they clearly haven't dealt with should be ostracised until they sort it out. There should be zero tolerance for that sort of crap.

A draw is not a terrible result. I think we can get a win against Italy and maybe a draw with Belgium if we get the luck of the Irish smile

You mean the team Ireland beat the last time they played? To misquote Eamon Dunphy, there are no world class players any more, every team is capable of being the best. I don't really expect Ireland do very well either, but then I didn't expect Brazil to be embarrassed by Germany the way they were in Rio, I didn't expect England to go out so early, I didn't expect so many supposedly good teams to be so ordinary, and I certainly didn't expect the world champions to be beaten by Ireland a few months later (albeit in relatively unimportant game to them), so if Germany get trounced and an unexpected team get to the semis or the final, I won't be too surprised. < pessimist > probably won't happen though < /pessimist > #goireland
The reason I think Germany will win is based on the process of elimination. Spain aren't as good as they were and they're missing Costa. Torres, Mata etc. So they won't win. I remember growing up in the 90's, Italy was always regarded as among the favourites for the Euro's and world cups but you don't hear so much about them anymore. Now, I don't follow club football so maybe Italy still have great players at Juventus, Inter, Roma etc but they're not tye same level they were. Portugal are a team based around one player, same with Sweden. England will probably go out on penalties and after watching France last night, they don't stand a chance. That only leaves Germany. I know we beat them but like you say that game was a nothing game for them. When it matters, they'll win.

Well, your reasoning is sound, Germany probably will win. But I still won't discount the possibility of something unusual happening to put them out.

There's already been a few surprises - England not winning against Russia for one, but then all it takes is a momentary lapse of concentration and there you go.

And I certainly didn't expect Ireland to deserve to win that game, they played alot better than I expected. If it wasn't for Ciaran Clark's big head....

Result: Ireland 1 - Sweden 1

.

Well i have to say Ireland played great first half and got a crackin goal at the start of the 2nd half. But after the goal they fell into the same pattern as past Ireland teams by not 'shoring up' the midfield after they get ahead in a game - and allowed Sweden to come back into it the second half to equalise - when Ireland really should have won this game - the reality is Ireland didnt have the kind of midfield ball player that is needed to hold on to a lead, to hold the possesion, slow the game down control the pace of the game...

.

Still it was a good game and the atmosphere in Stade de France with the sea of Green and Yellow jerseys looked amazing !

We start with a draw but we really deserved to win. Sweden never even had a shot on target. Their goal was an own goal. We still have Italy and Belgium to play so realistically, we'll probably lose both of those games but we can hope for a couple of wins.
