That's the only game I've not managed to watch or listen to so far. Surprised at the score, if not entirely the result. I think you just need to beat Italy 4 -0, with Sweden and Belgium getting a draw....

We were OK until the first goal went in. After that we tried to be more attacking and they caught us out.

Ah. Often the way, when you have to go out and try to get something.

Tough loss for Iceland. Although it was technically a draw, you wouldn't have known that by the post-match reaction of the Iceland side. BTW, check out their Twitter feed some time. It's awesome!

C. Ronaldo just missed a tap-in against Austria.

All you C. Ronaldo haters are probably ecstatic tonight! Dang, he missed everything - including a penalty. The only kick he made didn't count. Congratulations to Austria, they really gutted it out.

I thought I'd die laughing when he missed that penalty. He's missed 4 of his last 5 penalties, apparently, so maybe they should have let somebody else take it. Even the BBC pundits, who love him to bits because he used to play in England, thought he was awful tonight.

After all the "fan" silliness that has marred this great game and tournament...it is nice to see some decent, level-headed, young England supporters in France...

Tonight is the beginning of the last round of group games. Albania v Romania could have a big impact on Ireland's chances of getting through the group stage. I won't get into the convoluted rules of how some third placed teams can go through but if Albania win, there's more chance of Ireland going through. So COME ON, ALBANIA!!

Of course, if Ireland draw or lose to Italy on Wednesday, then it won't matter... sad

^ And eventhough Italy will rest players as they have already qualified...it is a big ask - Italy have played some of the best football so far.

Great win for Wales tonight and with England only drawing with Slovakia, Wales also top the group.

I do have one issue though. Are Bale and Ramsey having a competition to see who has the most ridiculous hair? smile

One the one hand, I'm over the moon with Ireland's win. We really deserved it too. A brilliant performance.

Unfortunately, I lost a bet with my cousin so now I have to go out and cut the grass tomorrow... sad

Ireland will play France
England play Iceland
Wales play Northern Ireland

My predictions are France, England and Wales to go through. France have the home advantage and even though they've not been great so far, they'll have what it takes to beat us.
England couldn't have wished for a better game. I expect a big win for them.
Bale and co will be too strong for "Norn Iron".

Le Bleus have struggled a bit...and historically the pressure of expectation has been known to get to these fussy Francais

-

If Iceland sit behind the ball...then the Lions will possibly struggle

-

As for Sat 25th @ 5pm...the local Church pub where I live is going to be carnage!!!

-

The Azzuri -v- La Roja is the tie...and helps any team going through to the final 8...

Im not so sure. So far England have faced 3 teams that have parked the bus in front of goal and we have been found lacking in the penetration department. Iceland, as they have shown so far in the tournament will park the bus once again. Its going to be tougher than we think. Although they are one of our (many) bogie teams, I would have prefered Protugal because they would have at least come at us and left space at the back. And their defense is shite (although ours probably is too, it just hasnt been tested yet).

France have won the last two competitions held in France. The World Cup in 98 and Euro 2000. If England get through Iceland then France in the QF (no offence Ireland) will probably be our last game.

Italy - Spain is a juicy tie. And then the winner to probably face Germany in the QF. I think whoever gets through to the SF out of those 3 will probably win the tournament.

As for the other side of the draw, I can only really see Belgium or Croatia getting to the final. But stranger things have happened...

From what England have shown us so far, I genuinely have no idea who we are capable of beating or not... Looking at the other teams, Im not sure how good any of them really are either. All I know is the Italians tend to find a way of scraping through, the Spanish will either crumble or play the kind of football that god approves of, the Germans just know how to win tournaments and France is anybody's guess. The only constant in all of this is that England never win tournaments on colour TV.

England should beat Iceland but not holding my breath. England will get knocked out next round anyway just being realistic. Wales have more chance of winning the whole tournament.
