Possible new iPhone release in September, will you upgrade?

There are reports that there will be a new iPhone out in September, will you upgrade?? I have heard that the connections are changing so it won't be physically backwards compatible with previous models.
Mine is only about 18 months old, so really don't need a new phone, but depending on the new specs, could be tempted!

I have no reason to use a phone that powerful, and I really dislike Smartphones, mostly because they remind me of work. Plus, watching all the people on the subway on them tinkering and playing with them constantly looks really sad.

However, if I did want to use one, the upcoming iPhone would be my obvious choice.

Nah. I got my 4S last October. No need to upgrade 'til my contract is up.

I'm good with my 3GS, as funny as that may seem. My wife is due for an upgrade under her contract, though, so I may get her one as a birthday present.

BTW I was having serious battery issues, where the phone was dying in less than a day even when I was not using it.

I just discovered how to shut down all the running apps, and found I had about 40 going. I shut them all down, and today the battery has stayed totally full so far.

Nope. I like a phone to be a phone. There is nothing so important on the internet or in an email that it can't wait until I get on a computer. I don't need to connected electonrically to the world that bad. And all of these apps are causing people to forget how to do things themselves. Next thing you know they will come out with an app that will wipe your butt. :-s And watch how many people will sign up for it!

I wanted my phone to be a phone, too, and I had a cheap Nokia for that reason. The thing is, my iPhone is a much better phone, in addition to everything else it does!

good thing to know! from the main screen: tap home twice. A little bar will appear below. It will show a row of icons that will scroll to the right. Push and hold one until they wiggle. then you will see a red circle with a - in it. Use that to close all the apps you are not using.

Yes!

Some people on the internets are claiming that it's BS and does not save any battery life, but I can tell you that the difference is like night & day. Yesterday at this time my battery was more than half dead, and today it is still fully charged.

yes, that was what I kept reading.

First I turned off wi-fi, then notifications, then location services, then network data, then siri...but none of it was making a noticeable difference until I turned off all the open apps

I am trying hard to hold out until September.

beg I hope it IS in September.

I have a 3gs that is raggedy. I can't use it and charge at the same time anymore without the phone overheating.

Did you know when an Iphone overheats, you get this nifty littlle screen that shuts down your phone and a message:

TEMPERATURE!!! Your iphone has shut down until it reaches a safe operating temperature.

I have a 3GS as well and have been due for an upgrade since June. Was just thinking of taking care of that, so I think now I'll wait another month and see what's up.
