Not when you almost never use it to actually make a call. Phones aren't phones anymore.

Since I got my iPhone, I hardly use my laptop anymore. It's a lot easier to check my web-based email accounts on the phone, because they're all in one place. shrug

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Not true. A phone can be a daily planner that talks to you, a text chatting device, a video chat device, a movie making device in full HD, a voice memo, a GPS, a tracking device, a DJ mixing tool, a web browser, an email hub, and even a vibrator.

I love the pda and iPod functionality as well as the ability to play apps and surf the Internet.

My main beef is that I don't want all of that in a phone. I hate...I mean HATE to use to phone, and often associate it with work, so I don't want to mix other things with that.

That's one of the reasons I'm eagerly waiting to forthcoming iPod touch. It'll give me all of that without the phone, and I can just use the phone I have (which is still nice, but by Samsung). That way I seperate the phone functionality

So, I kind of see graycaps point of view. But, some folks don't mind receiving phone calls on a device they also use for pleasure...and some folks actually like talking on the phone...so I may just be an oddball here.

I must be crazy...............I actually only use my phone...............as a phone.

Ocassionally I will look something up on the web or text but that is about it.

In the states I used it as a phone, GPS navigator, and to look up movie showtimes.

Here in Thailand, I use it strictly as a phone, and my Nook for most else.

But, I do think I'll get an iPod touch for my PDA needs, avoiding using an Iphone. I just don't want to mix all the cool features with talking. So, no... I don't think you're crazy.

Wait...wait... I mean, no, I don't think you're crazy for that.

Also things like limited data plans should not be long for the earth. At some point it will all be unlimited and access points will be developed to the point where access should be very wide spread and at no extra cost to the device user.

Home Internet will also start to be shared more and more--now many neigh. Even wifi will become shared. That is you may have a device in your home but it will not be locked like it is now. *this is not well supported by the typical home wifi routers at this point*

With the release of the analog tv signals those are said to be being reclaimed by the FCC to use in high speed data transfers. Even if it is mostly 1 way it will help with the overall speed of data transfers.

That's a good enough reason to have the option.

I am not one to be sitting looking at my phone all day long, but there are times when having the option to look something up on the run is pretty convenient.

it is great to have that option. Get in an argument! BAM! want to check the score! Bingo! Want to look up who was in some movie... boo-ya! but then again you can always self pwn!

it is funny when 5 adults are all looking up the same thing at the same time! or when you are talking about a funny video... now you can show them!

and the gps or ability to look up numbers...

where I live there have been what seems like a rash of people driving the wrong way down the freeways. I wounder if their GPSs are telling them "Turn Left now" and they are but really should be turing left in 200 feet! (so they do not cross the over/under pass and turn too soon going the wrong way)

I don't need instant gratification, which is what all of these phones are about today (and their apps). There are things that are best discovered without being told what to think about it by some online critic, and anticipation for some things can be a beautiful and fun experience, and I think that self-discovery of whatever it is that is being critiqued and anticipation can bring about a greater appreciation for whatever it is. It seems more and more we live in a "throw away" society, get something, decide you don't like it, get rid of it and get something else. No one appreciates things anymore. I don't know, maybe I'm just old-fashioned.

I use mine primarily as a phone too, but I do text quite a bit lol

It's funny that many people I know use their phones for web, social networking, camera, etc. so much that when there is an emergency and an actual need for the phone, the battery is almost always dead or dying.

If you will, so will I
