WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON PLASTIC SURGERY?

I was never opposed to plastic surgery until people started going overboard with the ass injections, the overzied implants, the cheek implants, the cat eyes...

Did I miss anything?

Do you hold a different opinion on cosmetic surgery when the recipient is a man, woman, black, white, asian etc?

What about age? Do you think there should be restrictions for those who are very young or very old?

I can understand lots of procedures, except the ones that make your face look different, such as a face lift.

Even a nose job I can get, but the face lift makes you look less than human. It makes an attractive older person look like a weird older person with a face lift. It takes away the character of the attractive person (Linda Evans, Jessica Lange) who gets it, and leaves a monster in their place.

I'm fine with it as long as the recipient is looking at the WHOLE picture. Often times the urge to make yourself look better physically is covering up the need to improve other parts of your life. As long as the person can recognize that and isn't searching for some instant gratification and is doing it for themselves, then go for it. Just don't go overboard and certainly don't go into debt over it.

On a personal level, I don't think I would ever change anything about me structurally, however I wouldn't mind getting a few of my chins sucked out but only after my own attempts to get rid of them have failed.

I would take this first part and add a twist. People get surgery, but they don't look at the whole picture, they look at individual parts of their bodies. When you focus like that, of course there are imperfections. But when you fix the "imperfection" then the whole picture changes with it. And often, it does not change for the better.

I think it's none of my business what other people do.

BUT...I think my sister is a ninny for going into hock on a nose job, a boob job, Botox and fillers - and then whining about how she's always broke. And the kicker is, she doesn't look better than she did before.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

100% agree. I have a "weak" chin but if I got some sort of implant then my lips would probably look smaller. And on, and on, and on...

Unless it's for serious health reasons, I am absolutely against it and find it very unattractive. It's usually a sign of extreme mental weakness, which I find very unattractive.

This may sound harsh, but when you simply aren't hot, read a couple of books, be funny, learn how to apply some make-up and a nice cocktail dress and you'll be alright. Plastic surgery won't save you, it'll actually make it worse.

And, for the record, "mental stress" due to some physical features, as a reason for costemtic surgery, is often over-hyped. Certainly not always, but very often. If you have small boobs, simply don't spend any more time with complete dorks who will only value you on the size of your boobs. By getting plastic surgery all you do is step down to their level of dumbness and superficiality.

It's absolutely noone's business what anyone does, if it doesn't affect other people!

That doesn't mean, we can't find the idea of cosmetic surgery either attractive or unattractive, though...

If one has some serious affliction like a harelip or a fucked up nose or some other disfigurement, then by all means. However, some women are taking it entirely too far. Who's that chick on Celebrity Apprentice that looks like she's got two chipmunks stuck in her face cheeks? She looks friggin ridiculous!

One thing I trip out on is fake teeth. I understand if you truly have messed up teeth getting veneers and crowns but it seems like most people have manufactured smiles, even when they had perfectly normal fine teeth before.

There definitely has to be some body dysmorphia going on with many people who seek to alter their physical selves and do so in such drastic ways. Its one thing to improve slightly on what you already have e.g. lift some saggy tits or inject some fillers into your crow's feet but some of that other stuff is just.....strange.

I agree with what you are saying, too. [I believe] Plastic surgery is generally about some kind of insecurity, and not about fixing a hideous defect. And maybe it's not addressing the real need in peoples' lives

Is it just me or do her teeth look better in the "before" pic?

In the after pic, they look chalky.

There are my 4 cousins who gained excessive amounts of weight to qualify for Lapband surgery and two cousins will be getting all the looser skin around the arms and belly sliced off.

I am a fat bitch too.... why can't these heffas exercise and watch what they eat? Why gain until they weigh 350+ lbs then get dangerous surgery? You STILL have to exercise! OMG!!!

Its crazy and it breaks my heart that this is a trend in my family. confused

I can not count how many times I have been advised to get a nose job by my "friends/coworkers/family" and even a few random people.

"You should get a nose job... you would look so pretty!"

fuk dem.

I think Hillary Duff is a better example. She had beautiful teeth and opted for an old lady grill.

Iran is supposedly the rhinoplasty aka nose job capitol of the world. Japan is known for eyelid surgery while Brazil is the place to go for butt and boob jobs.

neutral

I heard somewhere that Sweden is the place to go if you want a fake dick.

I've often joked about getting a nose job (I really dislike my nose), and I maybe my jaw. But in all seriousness I wouldn't have surgery to alter my appearance. I am who I am and that's alright.

I suppose a lot depends on the type of person you are and how depressed you are when you look in the mirror.

I would probably consider some kind of procedure to get rid of the stretch-marks on my tummy.

Shit i have a bump in my nose tx to granny but its slight and I feel it gives me a bit of character. That, along with my hair is what gives me that multi-ethnic look however.......i would so get a nose job is I wasn't afraid of the pain and possibly not being able to breathe afterwards. I mean what if they punctured something? shrug

No it's not. Trust me.

I used to suck my thumb all the time as a child and I don't know if that's the reason why, but my lower jaw seems further back than it should be. If I feel that anyone is studying me too closely, I just push it forward a little. That works alright.

This is pretty much me, to a tee.

Folks can do what they want, but I kinda wish they wouldn't feel the need to. That said, I've had a double chin my whole life, even at my skinniest as a teenager and I positively hate it. I still have other things I'd rather spend my money on, but if I had unlimited resources I'd do it in a hearbeat.
