Knicks are hot garbage - no point guard, no chemistry between our stars, top-heavy roster, shitty coach.

I was in favor of the Carmelo trade, so I can't go back now. You need at least two stars to have a chance in this league, but maybe Donnie Walsh was right. Maybe Dolan should have waited and not given up so much. Who knows?

I'm just sick of watching ex-Knicks have good games against this team. Even friggin' Jordan Hill played well last night. The bench is woeful and Landry Fields is totally lost.

Six games under .500 with the Pistons and Bulls coming up. And we're waiting on a dude with a bad back to save the season...(sigh)....

[Edited 1/28/12 22:36pm]

If the Knicks keep floundering they way they have been, Mike D'Antoni won't last through the season. I don't think anyone expected them to compete with the Bulls, Heat, and Thunder for the best record in the NBA, but they certainly expected them to play at least as well as they did during the second half of last season. They've been the biggest disappointment in the league so far this year. disbelief

My Bulls played Miami pretty well, but they still gave up too many turnovers, and I was shocked when Derrick Rose missed both free throws near the end of the game which would have given the Bulls the lead with just seconds left. Well, they have three more games left during the regular season.

typing

Totally agree.

Phili and Indiana playing better this year aren't going to help their cause, either. They could certainly still make the playoffs, though. They're only a game out of the 8th spot right now.

Don't see D'Antoni getting the ax during the season. Season is too short and there aren't a lot of options for a replacement. Also, as I keep saying, he's not the one on the court playing like crap. But I certainly don't see him coming back next season, even if they make a deep playoff run.

Oh yeah...

Also, three games in three nights for the Nicks this week, possibly without Carmelo. Be interesting to see how that plays out. They better step it up, though.

Like WFAN's Joe & Evan said, Pringles is a genius at running HIS offense. He can't adjust his system to the players he's dealt with. When Pat Riley came here, he didn't run Showtime. I'll be so glad when D'Amdummy gets his pink slip. Great action yesterday. Despite being short-handed, Bulls had that game. Can't believe Rose missed those free throws. That Spurs-Mavs game was crazy.

I don't actually believe that Melo is playing D'Antoni's offense. He's playing Melo's offense. neutral

Edit: I totally meant for neutral to be lol

D'Amdummy's system is shit. It's do what you want, take whatever shot you want. It worked in Phoenix because of Nash's brilliance. No way in hell guys like Bill Walker, Josh Harrelson, Jared Jeffries & Renaldo Balkman should be jacking up threes. This so-called genius can't figure out a way to get Amar'e better looks? Get him the fuck out of NY!

Come on man. D'Antoni's system worked in Phoenix. It worked so well that all the players who played in it, across the board, have lower stats with other teams.

Do you really believe that he's telling those guys to jack up threes? Look at him on the bench - does he look happy? lol

I'm tellin' you, he's not in control of that team. They're doing whatever they want, which was my point a week or so ago about defense. If they WANTED to play defense, they would. If they WANTED to run a set offense, move the ball, pick and roll, etc., they would. All the guys on that team know how to play the right way, they're chosing not to.

Honestly, I wish they would fire him now so I could watch those guys continue to do exactly the same thing. lol

Besides D'Amdummy, Knicks biggest problem is James Dolan, one of the worst owners in pro sports. He and Isiah spent nearly ten years driving this franchise into the ground. Donnie Walsh comes here, gets us out of salary-cap hell and makes the Knicks watchable again. And what's his reward? Brain-Dead Dolan, who's nothing but a trust fund baby, gets impatient during the Carmelo negotiations, and blows up half the roster. To make things worse, he fires Walsh and hires one of his yes-men to take Donnie's place. After the big three, the Knick roster is a joke. Some of these cats shouldn't be in the NBA. Looking at the front office, it's no surprise this franchise hasn't won a playoff game since 2001.

Dude............if Blake was not as strong as an ox, they play could have resulted in a ver serious injury. What the hell kind of defense was that supposed 2 be? The NBA is NOT the NFL.

The past is long gone, so it's hard to know what he would have done. But even then I never believed he was actually going to leave the Lakers. He just used all the leverage he had to get them to make some good (expensive) moves.

Just my opinion. All I know is that everything was in a state of flux until Ariza and Gasol arrived. Had Ariza and Bynum been healthy they'd have won the title that year. But again, that's my opinion.

From all the reports and "inside talk" I've heard so far this season Kobe is not unhappy. He likes Mike Brown and he knows they're in at least a minor re-building phase. The only thing that got his panties in a bunch was Kupchak letting Odom go without getting PLAYERS in return.

I have doubts about Brown, but David Stern has cost LA more this season than anything. If I had to guess that's what the entire team is mad about. I really don't know enough about the LO trade to begin with, I was so furious when it happened because of as you said not getting players in return, but I truly don't know if it was Mitch's or Jimmer's call.

I'm still fairly certain that this Lakers team will be quite different in the next couple weeks. It would be hard to make it any worse, although they do FINALLY seem to be gelling the last couple games.

They're an old, thin, slow team but they're playing decent defense.

Kobe is leading the league in scoring, averaging 30. He's not saving himself all that much. He just stopped taking so many quick, bad shots. Unfortunately, those extra shots might have won them a couple more games.

Agreed fully.

Talk of the Lakers signing Gilbert Arenas. Interesting in theory. They'd have to waive a player to sign him, but he's already getting MAD dollars this year from Orlando, so they could probably get him cheap and drop him if it didn't work out.

Arenas could parlay a stint with LA into maybe one more decent short-term/MLE contract. In a season that's more a war of attrition than anything else, they could use another decent "gun." Even 10 per night is the difference between 95 PPG and 105 PPG, and the way they defend that means more wins. They could waive someone; they must need the bodies because they're so thin. But I sense some roster spots are going to be vacant by March.

D'Amdickhead had a HOF PG in Steve Nash and a better cast in Phoenix. He doesn't have that here, so adjust to what you've got. And hold these mfers accountable, including Carmelo when he goes 1-on-5. Like I said before, Pat Riley knew better than to run Showtime with the 90s Knicks.

I never liked his style from jump street. It'll win a lot of regular season games, but not championships. Give me a team that plays inside-out offense and lockdown defense over 'sissyball' any day. Biggest mistake Donnie Walsh made was hiring this fool. I wanted Thibodeau.

When Baron Davis comes back, management will give Pringles a two-week grace period. If shit doesn't change, he's gone.

The NBA Playoffs are a half-court possession gig. D'Antoni's style runs players ragged in a compressed season and doesn't translate well postseason. He's not the answer, not for a team with a true franchise player and pieces to contend.

Did you see that stat they just flashed about Melo joining the Knicks? Since he got there...

Denver 32-13

Knicks 21-27

Also, regarding anybody in their right mind using Baron Davis as a barometer to judge their team, that's just nuts. If you're right that that's what is keeping D'Antoni there then I assure you they'd be better off firing him now. Every team Baron Davis has been on has had bad locker room chemistry. He's talked shit about his coaches, GM or owner every place he's played. He's poison and he's physically past it being worth having him on a team.

That was a pretty sound victory, though. Unfortunately Atlanta, Boston and Indiana all won tonight, too. Let's see how they do with Chicago, Boston and NJ on that back to back to back. That could make the first half of the season look totally diferent, one way or the other.

I'm not exactly fond of Davis either, but at this point, he's our best chance of turning the season around. He's the only legit PG on the roster.

Fixing the Knicks - long read, but great points;

Whew! whew My Bulls pulled out a tough win against the Knicks. Amar'e Stoudamire had a monster game against the Bulls, but why was he taking a three point shot with nine seconds left when Landry Jones had the hot hand throughout the game?

At least the Knicks came out swinging tonight. If they played like this half the time, they'd be up there with the Sixers and Pacers and not struggling to reach the 8 spot in the eastern conference.

They proved that they are at least a respectable team now. It

seems like forever since i've been this excited about Philly basketball.

They didn't need a three. A two sends the game into overtime. Amateur coaching at its finest. D'Amdummy should give his coach of the year award to Steve Nash.
