I wasn't able to see the images for this and The Hangover part 2 so I had no idea what movies you were talking about until I copied and pasted the links into another tab. This promo poster always generated a lot of interest in me everytime I see it.

3.5/5 it's very slow which i don't think most people would like. but the sci fi (minus the science) metophoric secondary story aided the primary story very nicely, and the visual of the earth and moon were beautiful.

Interesting how in the first poster the woman is wearing a bra and she isn't in the second one. The first must be the American poster and the second, European.

2.5/5 Despite Guillermo Del Toro's involvement in this, it's very b-grade. I knew that would be the case though, I only watched it because a friend of mine was an extra and after the airport scene at the beginning that he was in - I saw him a whore in sheep's clothing

Even in the opening credits there were some lovely stylised handwritten things they say too, I read that and though uh-oh! ![]() And I was sooooo hoping the little girl would turn evil (she had the perfect face for it) and go after her annoying dad. Everyone's acting was so bad ![]() ![]() a whore in sheep's clothing

Pina (3D) (2011) - Documentary about the work of German choreographer Pina Bausch. I didn't think a modern dance documentary would hold my interest, but the choreography was fantastic--and also nicely enhanced by being shot in 3D.

Usually not my type of movie but I can't help liking Kristen Stewart lately.
In this move Kristen plays a terminally ill girl determined to lose her virginity and find love before she dies. The Cake Eaters was a 'real' sadly sweet movie. I enjoyed it. It was nice to see a movie showing older people (Bruce Dern, Elizabeth Ashley) with a strong sexual spark! [Edited 1/18/12 21:07pm] "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

Weekend (2011) - a remarkably well-observed story of loneliness and sense of disconnection. one of the best I've seen in years. a stunner performance from Tom Cullen. 5/5 "what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"

the movie BUNRAKU
highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys the martial arts genre, manga or anime. it's a quirky mix of styles, wonderfully artistic. minnesota native josh hartnett stars alongside japanese actor gackt (kamui gakuto) as heroes on a journey. woody harrelson and demi moore also star, along with ron perlman as villainous nicola the woodcutter, who makes machiavelli look sissy.
hartnett plays the drifter, gackt is yoshi the samurai, and the movie begins with voice-over narration explaining that the film is a re-telling of the ancient story of good v. evil. drifter and yoshi are persuaded by bartender and underground rebel leader woody harrelson to join forces to save the world from the tyranny of the woodcutter.
even though it sounds like i totally gave the whole thing away, i didn't the story is clear from the begining; the point of watching the thing is to marvel at the artwork. the sets are fantastic. in a kind of bunraku (i.e. japanese puppet theater) style, the backdrop looks somehow origami, giving the entire movie an appropriately post-apocalyptic feel. the fight scenes are beautifully choreographed, the music/sound track extremely sparingly effective.
totally recommend giving this one a peek

Acting gets a 8.5, but the movie as a whole didn't quite grab me. Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right?

Where Do We Go Now? (2011) - a group of village women join forces to stop a potential sectarian war in a very divided Lebanon. this had me both laugh & bawl my eyes out. splendid film 5/5 "what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"
