Very disappointing because I know I'll have to see this for the Oscars. neutral

maybe it'd be a fun watch if you keep guessing every now & then at what part of the film kids would be dozing off? lol

Late to the party, but I finally got around to see this:

Dogtooth (2009)

Slightly awesome, but not for everyody. It's hilariously funny, but you'll feel like shit for having laughed at something so twisted. My best description would be "Happiness" (Todd Solondz) as made by (great) swedish director Roy Andersson ("Songs from the Second Floor"), if that makes sense. Beautifully filmed (some interesting compositions through and through), well acted (and even an erect penis and Euro-bush vaginas for those who needs that to get through a foreign film).

My biggest irritations with the film are that I never felt much for the characters and that the film seems to be written as a series of scenes rather than as a collective whole.

I can live with the out-of-the-blue ending, but ultimatively it's an unsatisfying finale, when the disjoint narritive doesn't offer any momentum. But seen as chronological trip through scenes of the every day lives of perverted parents and their broken children it's a really great "thing" of a film.

star star star star out of five.

I think I gave it the same rating here on the org a few years ago. What an oddball film. Surprisingly, it was nominated for an academy award. The Oscars need more of these.

I'd probably go 6, 6.5 out of 10 - middle of my average range. I thought it was interesting, for sure. But I watched it a second time and once some of the shock value of the initial viewing had worn off I didn't think it was quite as good.

I LOVED THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO! 4 star !

Roony really got pierced for the roll too. Wow. It was a bit macabre and somber but I liked the revenge and rescue aspect of the film. Still unsure if Plummer's character knew the whole time what was really going on.

Hope they start filming the sequel soon.

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!
RIP Dick Clark, Whitney Houston, Don Cornelius, Heavy D, and Donna Summer. rose

Even Mesrine Part 1: Killer Instinct? I thought that was the better, more exciting of the two films.

In A Dangerous Method, he plays maverick psychoanalyst Otto Gross which came across to me like he was almost playing himself. lol

Every once in a while I enjoy a good late 70's- early 80's pop culture classic. One of those rom-coms for suburban 40 somethings, directed by Allen Alda, the relationships and the dialogue in this particular movie is sorta like a Woody Allen Lite cool star star star.5 /5

5 Stars for the sheer number of beautiful nude women

3 Stars for the fairly average story about art, insomnia, magic, and young love.

1 Star. Completely uninspired comedy made purely to cash in on what was originally a good idea and likeable characters. I laughed a few times, but everything about this was worse than the original, and significantly worse at that.

This art student develops insomnia after his GF dumps him, so he gets a night job at the market. He then discovers he can stop time and uses that power to (duh!) look at the women without their clothes....and paint them if he gets a chance
