I play one of these for the most part. It is confused for Rickenbackers and Gibsons. It's mid-priced. Not cheap but not too expensive, and it has been among my favorite guitars. http://www.reverendguitar...ay_hb.html

I was thinking of a Gibson or Fender....
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
EXACTLY!!!!!
| |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
considering you don't know how to play....why invest so much in a first guitar?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Start saving!!
Gibson and Fender aren't just brands of guitars at this point, they are types of guitars. Most of the guitar makers (with exceptions of course) are making some variation of either the Fender style or the Gibson style
Gibson is beefy and round sounding, Fender is sharp and clear.
Just to generalize

That's what I'm saying Im confused :/
I feel like an old one I can just get some cords down and not spend too much
But then I think that a new one I wouldn't have to buy another one in the future and just go all out
I don't know what to do :/
I want to buy cheap 1st but I don't know what brand is reliable.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yea, those brands are NOT cheap! The most decent ones I've seen are around 500
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
yeah, Mexican made Fenders are maybe that price, USA made ones are double. They have a cheap line, Squier, that is okay for beginners.
Gibson has Epiphone which is their cheap line, they are also about $500
I got my used USA Fender Stratocaster for about $600 or 650. It was like new, and 3-400 cheaper. My Legacy

There's really no rule of thumb, only you know how serious you are about wanting to play guitar. I started out on a budget acoustic and have been chasing the "holy grail" of acoustic guitars ever since. I've known people who couldn't play a lick and bought high end guitar off the rack or order a guitar from a luthier. It's a good thing you are slow about deciding; the longer you wait the more you'll learn. You'll probably purchase a guitar you really like rather than buying something you later regret. I've seen some nice gear in the pawn shops this last year; people having to sale things because of the economic depression/ recession.

I think it best not to overthink this.

$200 and you've got a great guitar for life.

Nah, overthinking it is half the fun! Most likely she'll never even play the guitar after the first day, so this is the real journey My Legacy

I use an Ibanez RG350, its not the best Guitar in the world but it only cost me £279 not sure how that translates into Dollars.
As for cheaper Guitars sounding cheap, well, not exactly - Some cheaper brands have a great sound, in fact I use my Step Daughters Pink JHS Encore Strat Copy for playing Slide Guitar on, it sounds pretty cool Darn think only cost £99 and is made of cheap bits
Yamaha are generally good for lower Price range, as are Ibanez.
The Fender Squire range are fairly decent too, I am actually looking at buying a Squier Tele.
I don't see the point in spending £500 + If you aren't going to use the thing any further than your Bedroom
I used to own a Watkins Rapier, which is now a very rare and desirable Guitar, I paid £15 for it at a Pawn Shop, some scuzzball robbed it off me when I was moving in to a new flat during the late 90's
Thats something else I would probably recommend doing, have a mooch around Pawn Shops etc, you may find a nice Guitar there too for a few dollars Life is short, don't be a dick.

That is some good advice Really? It got stolen? Man that really sucks! Yea, I never thought about the pawn shops before, but now I really want to look there. Well...for now I'll play in my bedroom then maybe I'll go further It all depends on how good I get

But guys I REEEALLLYYYY want an electric guitar!!!!!!!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
If U buy an electric guitar you'll also need to think about what sort of amplifier ur going to buy, cause the type of amplifier really effects the sound of your guitar. I think it's best to just go to a few guitar stores and listen to the different sounds of the guitars and amplifiers.
I started to play the guitar one year ago and I'm playing on an Ibanez Gio:

I like this guitar but it was my brother's old guitar so I didn't choose it myself. If it was up to me to pick my first guitar I would definately pick a telecaster model, because you can play a lot of different styles on a telecaster.
When you're just starting to play the guitar and you also want to play the solo's with the bends in it I would recommend thin strings, because that's easier and less painfull. I'm always using these strings:

What's better a Stratocaster or telecaster?
I would prefer an electric that I can play different sounds
