DO YOU STINK OR NOT??

Whilst you update us, Carrie, could you please--PLEASE--correct the typo in the title of this thread? Because it's driving me nuts.

redface

Jeez, you'd think I was imago. lol

As for the question, no, I no longer stink. I've been spending extra time washing my pits and went back to secret (as that's all I could find I was willing to try when I ran there the other day in desperation). It's still not ideal, but I don't smell BAD. I can just tell at the very end of the day if I make sure to check myself out.

I'm still consdering other options.

I only use the Secret scent expressions in either the vanilla or lavender scent. Everything else smells bad on me or doesn't work confused

I use DERMAdoctor's Total NonScents ultra-gentle skin brightening antiperspirant. It's $28 but it's worth it.

I too got really sensitive so have switched to plain ole bicarb

it works!!

I add a touch of essential oil to create a scent, it doesnt keep you dry it but as a deoderant it lasts ALL DAY & it doe'snt stain your clothes.

You just dip your finger on the top of the bicard and smooth onto still wet skin from the shower or bath, you only need a tiny bit (dont scrub) and leave your arm pit to dry naturally.

Great for gym shoes too!

That's so frikken hilarous!

I heard this is what they use to use back in the day, and years ago I called myself trying it, I got the worse rash, it tore up my underarms. For me it seems I get rashes or somekind of skin reaction with a lot of different products, even the natural stuff, which doesn't seem to work any better than splashing on some water. So far I just stick with stuff that moisturizes the skin. I change brands often cause either the store is out of the last brand I bought, or they just start irritating me in some way. Secret to me has a musky odor which I can smell all day and it bugs the living hell out me so I avoid it, unfortunately it's the most popular and dominates in all the stores. Been through Mitchum, which seems to work the best but is to harsh for my skin made me bleed once, Ban, Sure, Dove, which moisturizer pretty well, Arrid & Almay are a waste of time and money for me. Seems like every one I find that I love ends up taken off the market, why I always got to have a chemistry that seems to flow on the outer fringes of society.

What deodorant/antiperspirant do you use?

I find that after several years of use I become immune to a particular brand of deodorant. It stops working as well as it used to. I used Secret for many years, then switched to Dove for many years. I, of course, tried things in between but found I am allergic to a handful of brands (Degree, Teen Spirit, those hippy underarm crystal things).

I switched back to Secret when Dove wasn’t working anymore and now that’s not working again either.

I brought home some more hippy stuff (Tom’s of Maine Organic) and today is day 2 and I was stinky yesterday and this morning am discovering I am allergic as well (red, raw, burning armpits sad ).

So what do you use? Are there even that many brands out there anymore?

I like Teen Spirit- even though I'm grown-

I once went out with a guy who was going crazy over my "scent" the entire night- I kept telling him I wasn't even wearing perfume, it turned out it was the Teen Spirit he was smelling- I couldn't keep him off me- haha-

First, I only use deodorant, no antiperspirant. Human beings are supposed to sweat, and the stuff we sweat out is supposed to go. At least that's what I remember from my hippie days, so I've never gone back to the anti-perspirant.

The hippie brands never worked for me and I tried ALL of them. Even that dang crystal stuff, and don't ask me why I ever thought rubbing a smell-free crystal on your pits would work. What I realized years later is, hippies stink, so hippie deodorants don't actually have to work. lol

The only deodorant that ever gave me the burns was Mitchum. Which was too bad, because that stuff DEFINITELY kept the stink away. But it gave me burning and redness like a mf.

I used to have that problem you mention above - every few years (or even less, sometimes) the brand/flavor I was using would stop working. But since I started using the Old Spice High Endurance flavors about 7 or 8 years ago I've had ZERO problems with that issue. Honestly, other than the fact that I'm pretty obssesive about showering every day, I can usually even skip a day of applying fresh deodorant and still not stink.

PS - Yes, I know deodorant doesn't have flavors, that's just the word a group of friends uses for pretty much anything we're talking about with an odor. shrug

I use a completely average, cheap deodorant, just so that I sweat less during the day. But the clue for me really is simply to shower more often (also because I like it), so I take a shower in the morning before I go out of the house, when (if) I come home for lunch, and in the evening before I go to sleep. My body can go up to 12 hours between showers that way and I think that's acceptable.
