yes, NOW do you understand? when I tried on a Dangerfield/Revival dress today at Myer, the smocking that was supposed to be the waist, was pretty much on the underside of my boobs in a size 12, which fitted perfect elsewhere

damn pout

Would it be risky ordering that top online? I don't know what your money is like compared to ours so I don't even know if those were good or outrageous prices.

it would be indeed - our dollar is same as yours at the moment, so those are pricey IMO, and I just blew close to $350 buying a jacket, jeans, sweater etc today lurking err

I wasted $25 on buying a shirtdress from ASOS, I could send it back, but the postage can't be refunded.

I can't tell from a picture how long it will be on me, how stretchy the fabric, if those are vanity sized items etc. Not unless I was familiar with the brand and fit.

lol I'm gonna be a fashion don't in my 40s 'cause I can't let go of the velour. It's so nice to wear. Other than that, I'm taking cues from my aunts who had absolute grace in their 40s. Fine silks, fabulous cotton numbers in the Summer....ohgoon and all those hair scarves. I'll have to step my heel game up because I just fell right the heck off that train back in 2007.

The only thing I can think of is miniskirts. it's one thing if you've got the legs for them. But um....there's a neighbor/family friend who is in her 40s and it's just a HORRIBLE look on her. Nobody will tell her because she's a flat out spitfire with a harsh mouth. But um...she wore it to he daddy's funeral. O_o

Walk through the junior department: 90% of that stuff you should not put on your body. I make mistakes myself. I have a Betty Boop t shirt that is the prettiest shade of blue, but Betty Boop, REALLY!?! Women's knees start looking a bit saggy and their inner thighs too. It is best to get those skirts and shorts closer to just above the knees. It matters the woman too. Some women can pull off showing their knees well into their 50's and 60's and others need to cover them up.

What Johnart said about Harper's Bazaar is correct. They are better, when they do their "fabulous at any age issue" than 'More' magazine here in the states for showing fabulous looks that are fashion forward without being supper trendy and a bit less revealing without making you look like a granny. It is tough. I find shoes right now the worst. Older women do not need to be in 5 inch heels. However finding cute and maybe a bit sexy shoes in the 3 inch or less range is not easy. 40 is way too early to start looking like a frump.

There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.
