Stay away from velour track suits and cutesy logo shit written across the ass.

suggest some DOs thanks John biggrin

Harper's Fabulous At Every Age has nice suggestions most of the time.

Again, of course I'm not saying take a mortgage on your house to get a blouse and some slacks. lol

You can never go wrong with nice well-fitting jeans that you can dress up or down and simple tops for everday wear. wink

confused blouse and slacks???? how very Prince!

I don't work in an office hmmm got no need for office wear hmmm

you know what I am thinking would suit me, a wrap dress with a collar, is there such a thing and do they look OK? hmmm although, maybe I need a bit more material around the hips to make my waist appear smaller - I have always had a wide waist and small hips in comparison.

Done right:

Toby Cotton Cowlneck Dress - Lauren - RalphLauren.com

Done wrong:

basically, if you are a model, yes

if you are not, no

Is that the only difference between the style & execution of the two looks?

swap the outfits and see if that bigger girls get away with dress number one, AND I bet Kate Moss or some other skinny rock chick could wear the outfits in pic 2 and it would be no big deal

I actually do think that bigger girls can "get away" (funny choice of words giggle) with the first outfit. It is tasteful and that goes a long way (especially if you're full figured). You're right about skinny girls probably getting away with the second set of mess, but they'd just look like skinny whores rather than "ample" ones. shrug

Those outfits look like from the store at the mall where you wear it once and you're lucky if they come out in one piece after you wash.

And another thing. What was she thinkin with that lil' clutch. It looks like her armpit is about to swallolw it. neutral

I wouldn't say that I've been dressing "badly", but 80% of the clothing that I've ever bought has come from the Clearance rack. It was never much of a priority all things considered.

Now that I'm re-evaluating my priorities, I've decided to buy clothes that I WANT. And since I've been losing weight, I'm actually comfortable enough to wear H&M-style clothes (their stuff does not forgive a flabby midsection!!!).

BUT, it's hard to decide what makes me look "young" and what makes me look like a 40 year-old man in the throws of a mid-life crisis.

confuse

we don't have a H&M store here pout but I took the master to shop there in NYC

It seems to be catering for tall thin men though, think 6'3" strapping swedish lads lol

Which suited Leo very well, since he has VERY long arms, and the sleeves in H&M all go down past his wrists woot!

hrmph

Yeah, I noticed that.

Tall & "strapping" I am not.

But amazingly I found a pair of "slim" jeans there in my size that actually fit me pretty damn good!

woot! Ego boost!

yes I do think they would look better in the top outfit (assuming it fit)

But in ZK's defense I agree Kate Moss would look better to me in those leopard prints, skinny whore or no. But I love how happy those women are! lol

Those dresses would flatter an "average" woman. Especially the 3rd (if a woman is not secure in her curves).

I strongly stand by the last 2 as cute dresses. hmph!

The first I included because she mentioned extra fabric.shrug

I don't like the pattern much, but I do think it's a cool cut of dress.

The animal print because, well...they made me think of those pants she was all excited about back when she visited. lol

I say terrible because the fit makes it look cheap. The sleeves on all of them are just awful. Like, Kmart sells this style. lol

Here are some that I think are more flattering.

I like the maxi a lot. The two above are nice, but not too dressy? I'm not even sure, are we looking for everyday/casual?

You don't have to explain why you think they're terrible. You don't like them.

My heart has been broken beyond repair. That's fine. tease

Anyway, I like these too:

[img:$uid]http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/jgascot/243615_ZZ681_2100_001_web_zoomin.jpg[/img:$uid]

I like this but it's pretty short.

[img:$uid]http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/jgascot/pl841223-00vliv01.jpg[/img:$uid]

I don't know if these might be too short, but I like how "easy" they are (not whore easy, just easy lol). They would be cute casual tops too. Like for running around getting stuff done

shhh after all that trouble he went to! I would still try them on, whether I keep them or not, that's another story boxed

all I wanted to know, is if I had a wrap dress with a collar, with a v-neck, would it make me look less short and wide. A round neckline makes me look positively bovine!

my party pants falloff

I was excited about them because Leo bought them at the salvos for $5 for the band to wear to an 80s gig, but it never eventuated, so one day I tried them and they fit lol

THIS is an example of the kind of dress I look VERY BAD in

round neckline, on this model, there is enough fabric in the bust to look nicely wrinkled, but on me, around the bust, stretched TIGHT mad

That chiffon material doesn't stretch, so I can't fit into any of the examples Erin posted cry
