Wishing your brother a speedy recovery... I know Charleston SC very well.. was just there last April when my cousin was murdered (his killer is still at large)... My aunt works at MUSC..

Hey everyone. Yesterday was a bit rough, but my mom called today to let me know they removed the tube from my brother's head. I was calling Drs. yesterday (you have to get a patient code) and nurses early this morning. If not for a wonderful nurse named Sara who reassured me during the middle of the night that my brother was in "good" condition considering what had happened, I would be a basket case. Both Dr. Erickson and Sara tell me the long term effects of a brain injury like his may take anywhere from six months up to a year or more to be determined. The part of the brain that affects mood and behaviour (I believe that's what Sara said) is where my brother sustained his worse head injury.

Banks, I remember last year when your cousin was killed. I suppose that should put things in perspective for me; my brother is still here. Orgnote me and let me know what your aunt's name is if you don't think she'd mind. I'd like to meet her when I get to Charleston, which should be Friday at the latest.

I'm going to take my laptop with me since we may stay at a hotel. It feels good to know I have friends thinking about me and family and reading the threads helps me to relax. I told luv4u that when I get to speak to my brother I'm going to tell him about everyone here and the prayers and good wishes you've been sending his way.

BlackAdder he wasn't wearing a helmet, but it's hard to tell someone who drinks what to do. Despite his faults I love him with all my heart. A helmet, I believe, most certainly would've helped. I want him to pull through with all of his faculties intact so I can be mad at him. Does that make any sense?

Yes, that does make sense. I'm so sorry to hear about this! I know if this happened to one of my brothers, I would be an emotional wreck! I hope your brother makes a full and speedy recovery.
