Any kind of overwhelming emotion is going to come out of my eyes. Happy, sad, whatever. I’m a sensitive soul, I guess. That and I’m often hormonal. I take after my mom this way. you big sob! The older I get, the easier it gets to start bawling. From movies (Amadeus gets me e-ve-ry time) or music (The Beatles' Free As A Bird) or a fucking Oprah episode, it don't matter. Imma big bawler. I'm with you. I can cry at some pretty silly stuff sometimes. But I'm REALLY curious about what makes you cry in Amadeus. I've watched that movie about 400 times and I don't think I've come close to tearing up once. Wait - on second thought maybe I don't want to know. You might make me start sniffling as well!!!!

I get ugly, crying over these movies: Dark Victory Imitation Of Life The English Patient Just the opening titles of Imitation Of Life gets me choked, because I know what's coming. And I couldn't watch the last 30 minutes of Marley & Me - I had to leave the room. Did you actually like Marley and me? Because I did the same thing at the end and left the room. I would have stayed and balled my way through it if I had enjoyed the movie. But I thought it was total cheese and completely unfunny/uncharming. Because I KNEW I would cry at the end when they showed the final dog scenes I refused to let that movie get me emotional because it hadn't "earned it".

Absolutely. But mainly because something on the screen evokes a powerful, personal memory.
For instance, I always cry at the end of "Field of Dreams", when Kevin Costner plays catch with his dad. That's because my dad and I loved baseball, and he's gone so we can't play catch any more.

Toally agree with you on this one. What's funny if the first four or five times I watched it, it didn't get me at all. Then I found myself watching it one day a few years ago and started getting choked up at that scene.

I cried at Passion of the Chirst for the same reason Johnart cried at English Patient. Didn't really care for that one. Movies I know I have cried during at least once: Color Purple Field of Dreams Nobody's Fool (obscure Paul Newman movie) Gandhi (when his wife dies - if that isn't the height of acting I don't know what is) Throw Mama From the Train (j/k)

Cool Hand Luke.
When Paul Newman takes that last beating whilst digging a ditch and his spirit breaks....I was just and then it sucked when his so called jail homies turn on him later and start eating his food from him and everything.

I ask because I DVR'd The Reader and watched it last night. I wasn't sure what it was about, or what to expect. For some reason, it got me emotional. It was such a great movie. For anyone who hasn't seen it, I'd highly recommend it. Do you cry at a movie? What movie(s) have evoked that kind of emotion from you? My girlfriends and I all teared up and soaked a bunch of kleenex at a theater with this tearjerker way back in Jr. High:

We played catch in the field next to the Hall. It's a good thing it was long toss, because I was crying like a little baby the whole time.
