I think they tell them that at the show and offer them a buy back amount if they prefer. Some shows also give some dollar amount to help with the tax. But yeah it could be a shock to win some big ticket item and find out in tax season that its FMV is taxable just like other forms of taxable income.

It's surprising there isn't more domestic terrorism agains them. the damn devil.
