Yes, but Steven made it so sappy and sentimental. Christian Zombie Vampires

Byron said: Depends on what the ultimate message of the movie was supposed to be. Having it end with the kid underwater and staring at the blue fairy, wishing to be real so he could be loved, would definitely have given a much different message than the one that was given. The ending it has now, as goofy as it was, emphasized the constant of love, how true love really never diminishes, and the role faith plays in finding it. It also showed the "fake" love of robot boy as ultimately being more real that the love we humans tend to hand out and expect back. My name is Lammastide and I endorse this message. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

It was described as always jumping 1000 of years in the future when men are dead. Yes, but Steven made it so sappy and sentimental. Or did he? I find the ending to be really tragic. David finally gets reunited with the woman he loves, but it will only be for a single day. The future creatures have artificially created a loving mother; it kind of shows that maybe Kubrick felt all love was just an elaborate fabrication. That's just my interpretation, but I don't find the ending happy at all. It's all illusory. As for bad endings, NO ending pisses me off more than Se7en's. Goddammit, Morgan Freeman should have used his gun to shoot Kevin Spacey. They even foreshadowed it earlier on in the film when Morgan's character was talking about how he's never fired his gun before. It would have been perfect to have the old, bitter, cynical retired cop sacrifice himself to save his younger partner. The film totally falls apart with that ending, and up to that point it was a great movie. It's so frustrating. [Edited 3/4/08 13:59pm] The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

What the.... ? You are talking about one of the greatest sports movies EVER..... Rudy Rudy Rudy.... I loved it.... I was just going to say that! Rudy ROCKS! How can you say that was a bad ending?!! Also, someone said Sixth Sense. That was one of the best endings to a movie ever. the rest of Shamalans (sp?) movies I will give you have AWFUL endings. But Sixth Sense was great. War of the Worlds ending ruined the entire movie for me...after all that and they end up in Boston, find the son, and all is good in the world. Also, even though its a classic, Breakfast Club...they should've let Ally Sheedy alone! She was the coolest of the bunch and then Molly Ringwald gets a hold of her and changes her!...I was pissed about that.
