I don't think so. It seems that less than 15 minutes or so may have been spent on contacting Mary-Kate, whereas Heath had been dead already, probably for 24 hours or so.

I think that because illegal drugs COULD or MAY have been involved, Mary-Kate was looking out by calling her private security people as opposed to calling the police. I don't blame Mary-Kate for any of this. I don't believe she was a factor at all.

No police report has said anything bout illegal drugs being involved. dont jump on the bandwagon.

I KNOW that. Not jumping on any bandwagon. You've misinterpreted what I wrote. I'm speaking about Mary-Kate's understanding of what SHE would have known or not known at the time. Did Mary-Kate have a copy of any police reports when she was first contacted?

Family pays tribute to Heath Ledger

Though the funeral services for Heath Ledger will remain private, the late actor's relatives have gone public with their expressions of grief. The death notices section of Friday's West Australian newspaper carried two columns of tributes written by Ledger's immediate family.

The 28-year-old late actor's mother, Sally, wrote: "Our darling boy, special in so many ways to all of us. You knew you were so loved. You lived life with courage and daring and we are so grateful for the wonderful times we shared. We will be there for Matilda."

Ledger's older sister, Kate, wrote: "I can hardly breathe when I try to write this. We were the ultimate in soul mates. I feel both my heart and life have been torn apart. I loved our special talks, our daily chats from where ever you were in the world. I especially loved all the precious time we spent together…You were so many things to so many people, but to me you were just my little brother."

His father, Kim, wrote: "My beautiful boy, so loving, so talented, so independent, so caring, so young . . . no more chess games mate . . . this is it, couldn't beat you anyway! My body aches for the sound of your voice, our chats, our laughs and our life and times together."

The actor's younger sister, Olivia, wrote: "You're my idol, my hero, but most importantly, my loving big brother. I'll treasure every moment we spent together."

A notice signed by the entire family reads: "Your true legacy lives on in beautiful little Matilda, who will always remain in the greatest of care. Our hearts are broken . . . Dad and Ines, Mum and Roger, Kate and Nathan, Rori and Scarlett, Ashleigh, Olivia, Elana and Nadia."

On Friday, members of the late actor's family continued to fly from Australia to New York, where Ledger's body is resting at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home in Manhattan's Upper East Side. E! News reports a private viewing is expecting to take place at the funeral home on Friday. Various media reports suggest he'll be buried in his hometown of Perth, Australia, but the family has declined to comment.

"At this time, we will not be releasing any information," a rep for the late actor said in a statement Friday. "There are no plans for a public service."

where did you get that from? that he was dead for 24 hours. i read his maid heard him snoring at 1:30 or so, which dead people don't do and at 2:45 he was dead. thats not 24 hours.

okay edit., I'mnotr saying you have to be a celebrity news whore like me and read tmz and perezhilton all the time but I get the sense that you don't have a clue about anything thats been reported and is just talking out of your ass. So maybe it would be best if you said nothing. I havent read anything about the mary kate security guy except on the day it happened but then the story was the massage chick or the maid personally new the guy which is why she called on top of mary kate knowing heath. I recall reading more recently that she called mary kate in cali who then called but i'm not so certain about that.

According to one report, when the EMT's arrived, they still attempted CPR and defibrillation.
Even if the therapist panicked, 911 should have been the 1st call made.

That I've related one story (of many) that was reported in the news here in NY regarding the possibility that Heath may have been dead for up to an entire day before he was found does not qualify me for "talking out my ass", it just means I'm engaged in the same conversation that you are. No one person here (except you, I guess - because you are a self proclaimed News Whore) seems to have a lock on the actual events definitively as they played out. Not even the officials do, yet.

My point was: I don't believe the few moments spent contacting Mary-Kate could have been spent saving Heath's life, that he was already dead, and had been for some time (for as long as an entire day, according to one of the versions of the story that was reported here in NY).

I understand that this is a very emotional story, and many people feel personally involved and saddened by the news, but I can't see where that requires you to respond with such hostility. It would seem that if you're unable to participate in the discussion with any amount of civility, then perhaps it would be best if YOU said nothing (although I wouldn't expect that to happen). Heath is gone, and many are sad - try to take it easy. Go out, get some air, and breathe.

Actually, I remember when I worked in a music store and Barry White had died. It saved a lot of time to create a makeshift tribute where customers who were already looking for his stuff to have it right there ready for them without asking the staff. And that example was as simple as looking under "W" "White, Barry" under R&B/Soul. I can imagine that DVDs sorted by title, not actor, would take a lot more time to search for and gather.

It's nice. It's genuine. I wish my rental store had done this, because I honestly would rather walk in and see a table as a recent tribute than search imdb.com then track them all down myself.

Yeah its a mandatory thing in Music/dvd retail, we would get the emails usually the next morning or even hours after saying such and such create a Pull-together (retail term for display of varied merch) and put in a visible location for customer vision.

Welll....when encountering someone unresponsive, or deceased, "Mary Kate Olsen" doesn't crop up as the one I'd seek professional help from.

Yeah it would have been good but the massuese was more than likely following the basic protocol that almost all employees and sometimes friends and family of celebrities sign. One would think medical emergencies would be an exception but maybe not shrug She would never be hired by anyone for private work again at least not on that level.
There's always rumor and innuendo and the public rarely learns the whole truth about anything in celebrities' lives or deaths. Nor should they know everything.

I'd like to think medical emergencies are excluded from privacy contracts.
If a situation is "life or death", the obligation is to obtain help immediately, or make a reasonable attempt.
It sounds as though, in this situation it was too late.

yep, it like that when your someone famous and it hard to keep anything about your life private from the media. I would say its been like that before the idea of 911. hmmm

The contracts I've seen make no exceptions.
Apparently the police are satisfied she made a reasonable effort to get help.
I agree that calling 911 first would have been the best but it isn't always easy to think in these situations and it is drilled into everyone that privacy comes before anything else.
This is just all extremely sad.

It is sad.
It also sounds, as though it was too late, even if EMT, 911 were called 1st.

On another topic, I can see where, every time a celebrity passes out, they could get an ambulance trip to an ER by an over-concerned employee.
Which is why, I emphasize, taking a CPR class is of value. How many know how to give the Heimmlich maneuver? That's simple and life-saving.
Celebrities should re-think their privacy contracts. If privacy/confidentiality supercedes a life saving phone call, that's suicide. There should be logical exceptions.
Again, it seems as though nothing could be done for the actor. sad

I would think that body guards and people like the security staff, especially personal security, who mary-kate called would have those kinds of certifications. In fact I would tend to believe its likely a requirement in their line of work.

As i said dont get me wrong These people are way out of line with this crap and the hatred they spew but perpetuation hatred on any level does not contribute to a solution

Well I'm sorry but I honestly believe they deserve it. I wouldn't be able to be the one to do it, but I sure as hell wouldn't mind if it happened. If it was my relative though that would be another story. Can you imagine hearing that your son deserved to die for making a frigging movie? And then showing up at his funeral and rubbing it it? I wouldnt be able to take it. It's fine if they want to believe homosexuality is wrong, but actually going out of your way to do this makes my blood boil. We dont need filth like that on this planet.

No, it is not fine. Where do you think people like Phelps got the idea that this was okay in the first place? It is a tiny, tiny leap from "homosexuality is a sin" the way that it's presented by modern religions (i.e. given more attention than other sins) to "GOD HATES FAGS!"

I'm not saying it's the inevitable conclusion to being dumb enough to actually believe Leviticus and Paul have anything to do with God, but this isn't an isolated case, either. Where do you think anybody develops the mindset it takes to picket funerals or kill gay or trans kids? Certainly not from believing gay is okay.

Body of Heath Ledger was still warm

Print January 28, 2008 12:00am

HEATH Ledger's motionless body was still warm when paramedics were called to his New York apartment, according to the Emergency Medical Service dispatch report.

The report, obtained by The New York Post, reads: "Torso is warm," in a log entry from 3:28 pm.

The Post exclusively reports that the statement came from a 911 caller whom police identified as Ledger's masseuse, Diane Lee Wolozin. Police say Wolozin used the actor's cell phone to report the emergency at 3:27 after finding him naked, face down and unresponsive in bed.

The Post said that the warmth of Ledger's body means he was dead for as little as 20 minutes when the call was made.

The alarming revelation makes even more heart-breaking the fact that nine potentially critical minutes were wasted when Wolozin made three calls to actress Mary-Kate Olsen before she called 911.

Should Mary-Kate Olsen finally come clean on why she did not immediately instruct the masseuse to call 911?

Wasnt the Post or the NEws that said that olsen instructed Bodyguards to the residence. Why do i have this feeling that maybe olsen is having drug issues and wanting something removed from the scene, or at least check if something was on the scene. I get this feeling that maybe she was taking something and told him to take something and it had an effect on him.

Wow, people are so desperate to place blame on someone over this.

The report from the EMT is that the body was still somewhat warm but hands, feet and face where cold - which is normal for someone that has been dead for about a half hour or so. He was dead when he was found.

The New York Post is posting a lot of bullshit. Yuck.

Yeah, the New York Post is really nothing more than a glorified tabloid. They are known for sensationalizing everything. I would take everything I read in there with a grain of salt. Now if it was the New York Times that's a bit different, but the Post: barf
