Great show, great make-over with the guy tonight. Looks wise, they really didn't have to do much, but what they did with his wardrobe and apartment was amazing.
His girlfriend was beautiful, and the whole tent thing was fantastic. The Fab Five are awesome! I would love to hang with them just to laugh my ass off with them... especially the blonde one... he's too funny. Great show. |

This show is great!
But like, whats the purpose of the bald guy? In one episode, his whole contribution was writing something on a chalk board, in the next episode all he did was buy some CDs, and in another episode he got some books for the coffee table. LOL.

he had me at the hat Correctamundo! Here are two things I don't like about this show: 1. It perpetuates the image that gay men live by a self-imposed stereotype. We all have perfect hair, perfect tastes in clothes and music and alla that, that we're witty and glib and wear trendy shoes, even when we're at the gym (which is most of the time). BLEEAERGAARRGGGHH!!! 2. It glamorizes the homoerotic fetishization of straight men, that whole "desire of the unobtainable object of desire" bullshit. I know gay guys who are almost EXCLUSIVELY attracted to straight guys because they like going after what they know they can't get, or what they think will be difficult to get. BLAEARRERERERRGGHH!!! I want a guy who's happily, openly queer. I want a guy who goes there with pride and glee. I want a guy who is willing to write an encyclopedia about sucking cock, with a close up of his face on the cover, and ads for his amazing hummer technique pasted on billboards all across the land. Sometimes the way mainstream culture represents gay guys really annoys me. And the way we always eat it up annoys me even more.

I don't like it when they go in and trash 'everything' the guy has. I wish they would stop for a second and say, oh i like these pictures, or chair, or shoes. Something positive so it doesn't crush his whole self esteem. Everything else is great, you don't have to crush there feelings ---------------------------------

Love the show. Recognize the stereotype issue, don't give a fuck. I'm so happy queers are on TV making fun of straight people for a change that I don't even CARE what the premise of the show is.
Best thing on TV since. . .maybe forever.

A straight guy's opinion on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy...
I love this show--I find it very entertaining, and it's one of the few things I watch on television these days. Yes, I do recognize the stereotype problem. OTOH, it presents gay men as people to be admired (instead of ridiculed--remember the "Men on..." skits on In Living Color back in the early 1990s?), and the positive interaction between straight and gay guys seems to be new ground for television. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

I see more gay stereotypes at a gay bar on a saturday night, than I see on this show. We're kind of shooting ourselves in the foot if we're going to agrue that this is an innacurate portrayal of gay men, when the fab 5 reflects the characteristics and interests present in a great portion of us.
They're not all raging flaming queens. The interior decorator guy and the chef guy have a (slightly) more masculine demeanor. But theres also an undertone of feminine gay men as being inferior, that I have a hard time agreeing with. Anyways, I think they replaced him (Jai is much cuter) :p
