Unlike most of their other hit singles,"Let Me Be The One" takes these ladies into R&B territory and they pull it off successfully. One of their finest singles.

Germany? Is that where you’re from? I thought that freestyle music was only popular here in the States (specifically California and New York) smile

I was born and raised in Germany where I still live, my ethnic background is Turkish, and yes, Freestyle type of music used to be very popular here in the late 80s. For some reason especially among Turkish people. Many of my friends still bump Freestyle music in their cars or dance to it at parties and in clubs.

And Stevie B. is the most beloved Freestyle artist among Turkish folks here.

Don´t ask me why though. wink lol

Must be the hair. wink

80s freestyle flashback: "Summertime,Summertime" by Nocera (1986)

That´s my jam right there ! I absolutely love this song and share it on Facebook every now and then.Especially when it´s winter and cold outside, or during summertime.

Mos Def kind of used an interpolation of it, or rather had someone sing the chorus in one of his songs.

I still love love LOVE this song. And I still own the original 12" and the album from back in the day. I was a huge fan of Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam and their producer family Full Force. I bought all of their albums and all the associated artists´ albums.

.

.

Meshell Ndegeocello did a nice coverversion of that song:

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
