Outside of Beyoncé singing talents, she isn't leaps and bounds above them talent wise.

How do you know this for certain? How do we judge "talent"? What exactly is talent?

It is kinda hard to explain, isn't it? But, in my opinion, Beyonce and Janet and Madonna all possess
the talent for being an entertainer and I think all three put on a great show.

I didnt know beyonce was considered that talented. On the org she gets critisized a lot. She does has a way stronger voice (i like janets voice more, but it isnt strong) and as they are all singers in the first place, a voice is pretty important lol

Some people here don't like anything. lol But you must haven't come across the Beyhive. Beyoncé has won more Grammys than the other 2 though.

Beyoncé - 22 Grammys (63 nominations)
Madonna - 7 Grammys (28 nominations)
Janet Jackson - 5 Grammys (26 nominations)

You can also compare that to some other acts:

Quincy Jones - 27 (79)

Georg Solti - 31 (74) most wins

The Beatles - 7 (23)

B.B. King - 15 (30)

Shirley Caesar - 11 (28)

Elvis Presley - 3 (14)

Michael Jackson - 13 (38)

Stevie Wonder - 25 (74)

Dolly Parton - 8 (47)

Lionel Richie - 4 (32)

Prince - 7 (38)

Jay-Z - 21 (74)

Adele - 15 (18)

Taylor Swift - 10 (31)

Beastie Boys - 3 (10)

Carole King - 4 (8)

Paul Simon - 16 (35)

Aretha Franklin - 18 (44)

George Benson - 10 (25)

Herbie Hancock - 14 (34)

Mariah Carey - 5 (34)

Whitney Houston - 6 (25)

Rolling Stones - 2 (12)

While I really liked Beyonce's last LP, I do think she has partially gotten so many grammys from a old white musical establishment who never embraced hip-hop but felt like they needed to award a safe black artist so no one would accuse them of racism.

No they have embraced hip hop but she and a few others go so many Grammys when they expanded the categories. A few years back they removed those categories again. I think she only has 1 in the big 4

Beyonce is the one artist I don't get! There is not a single song of hers that I would consider classic. I remember when Single Ladies came out how every one was tripping and I was just confused I must give her her dues in performing though. Good live act.

In fact I think Britney has the better back catalogue (2001 and onwards) out of the two.

But the only person from that era that I would consider amazing is Christina Aguilera. Back to Basics (and especially) Stripped are some of the best pop albums of the last 15 years. I think she got this reputation of having her bitchy ways that people always forget about her lol

flawless record worship

Wonderful album, quite underrated. Btw Crazy In Love is certainly a classic for the ages.

It was always interesting to me that Janet and Madonna had better music but Whitney & Mariah were much better singers

I agree with that. I can admire both Whit and Mariah for singing abilities (especially when compared to non-professional singers like Janet and Mads, but boy do i hate Whits and Mariahs song choices.

On the other hand, Beyonce has taste in music. Or is her husbands taste in music? In any case, it's a marriage of singing capability and taste in material that sets Beyonce apart from pop lightweights Jan and Mads. And capable singers with terrible taste in material like Whit and Mariah.

You seriously called Janet and Madonna lightweights in comparison to Beyonce?

Beyonce only looks like a heavyweight in comparison to her mostly lightweight contemporaries in a lightweight era of music. Even so, there are many today who match or surpass her in various areas in which she's supposedly this unsurpassable force.

Beyonce's last two albums are heavy. Are artistic risk takers and exceedingly bold. Whit and Mariah have never gone even close artistically. They never went past the bubblegum pop album to appeal to the masses. Beyonce has not only sold well but with dark and bold artistic risk takers. And that may be due in part to Jay Z, but she has delved into hardcore "artist" territory, while Miriah and Whit were strictly in cheese pop "Diva" territory.

They really aren't though. Self-titled is the only album of her last 2 that I'd consider groundbreaking in any way. Not because of the music but because of how she released the album.

Besides you didn't say Whitney and Mariah, you said Janet and Madonna:
In any case, it's a marriage of singing capability and taste in material that sets Beyonce apart from pop lightweights Jan and Mads

If Janet and Madonna are "pop lightweights" then Beyonce is a flyweight.

hmmm Yeah it's an interesting one, discounting Janet from the argument entirely since it's fairly obvious she has no talent at all and coasted on the family name, it's probably because Bey can sang good. She has great range, dynamic control and tone, and she has a natural sense of performance. Maradona is a studio bunny but a great pop artist, I really like her run of albums from mid-80s to early 2000s.

If that's the case, how come none of the Jackson family other than Mike & Janet (& Jermaine to a lesser extent), had that much success? They've all released albums. Well not Tito until recently, so he doesn't really count. Marlon had one Top 5 hit on the R&B chart, and Rebbie had a few hits on the R&B chart too. But they didn't get any long lasting popularity nor much crossover success other than Centipede.

Actually I would argue Jermaine had success too in the early 80's, and he and michael were my favourite jacksons in childhood, until I discovered janet later on, and feel it's criminal she doesn't get her due. Some of jermaine's 80's jams if you take away the synthesizers and that god awful orange jumpsuit in dynamite have stood the test of time if you ask me.

The others definitely had success too, and janet too before control. The fact she was an actress and made a very small impact at the time, was probably a big feat though her acting took precedence then. I feel more than ever it's inaccurate when they call her first few albums flops and control her big success. She may have not mattered to top 40 radio and pop culture in 1984, but she mattered to a population of women of colour as an all around triple threat, and as a young role model/teen idol , so to say she flopped then and she is "flopping" now is an inaccurate statement.

I said Jermaine to a lesser extent. wink Remember, Tootie had a fit because she couldn't go to the Jermaine concert on The Facts Of Life. razz But he never reached the same level of popularity as Mike & Janet. Jermaine was more popular with the R&B audience than the pop audience. I don't think Jackie, Randy, & LaToya albums did much business, Marlon's was a minor hit. Marlon did produce an album for Betty Wright and co-wrote wrote a song for Barry White. Maybe LaToya had a few club hits in Japan or somewhere in the early 1990s, but that's about it. LaToya's more like a Zsa Zsa Gábor kinda famous, like a name who gets media coverage. But Zsa Zsa is not really popular for her movies and acting.
