Come again? cool

Show me, where did I talk about faints? I was refuting your claim that he hated to perform.

I was talking specifically about his faint comment replying to motown. Its just a misunderstanding between the both of us. No big problem.

It wasn't just Adele though. There were other celebrities defending Beyonce on twitter and showing her pity. She has 20 fuqing grammies for crying out loud. Its exhausting and nauseating how people go on and on and on and on about Beyonce like she the only human being on earth that matters.

Yeah, it's pathetic how that screecher with her mostly unlistenable music got 22 Grammys while a true artist like David Bowie got 1 Grammy (for a fucking video) in his lifetime. But not as pathetic as Adele was at the Grammys and the collective pandering and kneeling in the dirt to show the reverance to that rather bland person (Beyonce... but after that showing I also lost a bit of respect for Adele, just as she was gaining a bit of ground). I really do not understand what the supposedly big deal is about her. But then again, I find most of these current, so called, artists rather bland.

[Edited 2/14/17 14:38pm]

Yea I agree with everything! It is really sad what what has become of the music industry. I think the pandering Adele did to Beyonce at the Grammy's really hurt her credibility and intergrity. I am hearing a lot of her fans and people in general thought it was over the top and distasteful for a receipient of such a high honor. I don't get the big deal about Beyonce either, she is grossly overrated. She has always been mediocre to me as well as her music.

People are missing a big difference here.

Though Michael and Prince might've had big egos in real life, they rarely bored their audience with it in their art.

They didn't go on and on and on with specifics.

I think the appeal of Beyonce is that her fans can live vicariously through her confidence. It's fun.

It harkens all the way back to her Destiny's Child days and their obsession with girl power themes.

So when Beyonce brags about how much she slays, how you should bow down bitches, or boasts that she ain't thinkin bout you(boy bye), it boosts the confidence of her fans (largely female).

It's "ghetto" in the best possible way that word can be used to describe a feeling. She's sassy and brassy.

Mjcarousal I'm a little surprised you DON'T like her so much.

The only gross snub for AOTY IMO was when U2 won over MJ in 88, I am sorry but U2 did not deserve AOTY. MJ had 5 number one hits off of BAD which was a record that has not been broken by a Black artist and it was the biggest selling album that year. I know sales are not everything but it was a better album than that Joshua Tree (and BAD has proven to obviously be an Iconic and Classic album) and its ridiculous that MJ walked away with NOTHING that year, gross.

Hmmm I'm so used to hearing how Josue Tree robbed Sign O' the Times that I can't wrap my head around this angle.

In all honesty BAD would be choice number four.

SOTT is AOTY but it's hard to be mad at such a masterpiece and movement that was Josua Tree.

To add insult to injury Bruce Springsteen wasn't even nominated for Tunnel of Love, and that sh!t is bee-yoo-tee-ful! Don't believe me just download it.

I still think BAD was AOTY in 88 and 30 years later the album is still more influential and timeless than Josha Tree. U2 is overrated overall to me. I can see maybe someone arguing SOTT over BAD. To me that is a better comparision. Both were strong albums. I would have taken SOTT AOTY over Joshua Tree to be honest.

It's hard for me to be so broken up over Beyonce not winning the Album of the Year Grammy, when I know that the following never won, and in many cases were never even nominated : Bruce Springsteen, James Brown, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Metallica, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Elvis Presley, Elvis Costello, The Clash, Bob Seger, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Dylan, The Band, BB King, Muddy Waters, Queen, Pink Floyd, P-Funk, Earth Wind and Fire, Chic, Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight, Etta James, The Beach Boys, Van Morrison, Van Halen, Prince- ALL of them artists I think are superior to Beyonce...but that's just my opinion . Hell, THE BEATLES only won ONCE !!

nod Besides being a mediocre talent and her bland music, Beyonce is not a likable person.

She doesn't have an interesting personality and she comes across as phony, when you add her narcisstic complex, she is just very off putting.

At least with Rihanna, she is actually likable. One might not think she is all that talented but at least she is down to earth, has charisma and seems like an overall fun loving person. I get why people like Rihanna as a person. With Beyonce, the adulation her fans have for her is not based on her as a person and more so this "idealized image of herself" that the media and her PR team have constructed. Her adulation doesn't feel real or geniune and more so cult like.

Who cares about their personality, we're talkin about their music, besides Rihanna seems as very bitchy she doesn't seem as a nice person.

To me, it's less about her "off-stage" personality (which I don't know, since I am not a friend of hers), but how she acts on-stage and in interviews

We should remember, the Grammy's was a creation of Frank Sinatra and others who hated Rock & Roll. The show (the Grammy Awards) has always been a middle of the road creation for major record label artist to get pub.

Be that as it may...

I not all that crazy about Adele music. Ms. Knowles couldn't sing her way into a shower let alone out of one. I thought Santana opinion were spot on. Largely because of music videos, swivel head Barbie Dolls replace singers who can sing. Those singers are still up in church but that ain't the image the music biz wants. Recognize, Take A Deep Breath, and Carry On. =================

“I think Adele won because she can sing,” Santana said in an interview to the New Zealand Herald. “She doesn’t bring all the dancers and props, she can just stand there and she just stood there and sang the song and that’s it, and this is why she wins.”

It gets worse.

He continued, “With all respect to our sister Beyoncé, Beyoncé is very beautiful to look at it’s just more like modeling kind of music — music to model a dress,” he said. “She’s not a singer, with all respect to her.”

That's true her fans do live vicariously through her but the same can be said for any pop idol. The fans love to imitate them I've heard many fans say when saw mj or prince I saw myself and they made me feel confident and I tried to dress like them or be different etc etc. All the points you keep bringing up are weak.

Carlos is great and he's a legend but the the women can clearly sing. To say she can't sing is ridiculous. It's one thing to say I don't like her or her music it's another to say she has no talent. Besides Carlos being old and how old people reject new things Beyoncé puts on a show she's a performer and she's sexy she looks good but she also can sing and sings very well. You can do all three I never understood why people like to put other people in a box like you can only be good and do one thing. Its like when people say mj can't sing but he can dance or prince is a good performer he's not really good at the guitar. People are multifaceted and multitalented. Standing still like Adele looking matronly or sitting on a stool shouldnt legitimize you more thing someone who dances and sings.

Goodness, Carlos that was all kinds of wrongs. Come on now . I am not the fan of Beyonce I once was but she is talented. It's okay not to like her music or find her overrated but the woman can sing. I think this is left over grievance from last year's Super Bowl. He seemed upset that Beyonce got the chance to perform again and Bay Area artists didn't get the opportunity.

The recent Grammy performance was visually exquisite, but I found it overindulgent. Most of all, I found the music boring and forgettable.

What is so wrong with what he said? It's his opinion and I think his response was very respectful. These days, any comments that are not up Beyonce's butt are looked up on as "hating" or being negative...why? This woman is not the be all to end all in the music industry. I can count on one hand the songs that I actually like from her.
