Oh, I know that part. I was just comparing Joe to his contemporaries. They're all in but at the same time Joewas doing just as good or even better. If you're gonna put Sam & Dave in, why not Joe Tex? None of Whitney's or Straits contemporaries are in.

Aren't U2 and Prince contemporaries of Whitney? They're in. They came out a few years before Whitney, but popularity wise, they all happened around the same time. Whitney was huge right out the box. U2 & Prince had released a few albums before they got the big mainstream success.

Music wise, they're music isn't similar.
Joe Tex was a southern soul artist like Pickett, Otis Redding ect.
PRINCE: Always and Forever
MICHAEL JACKSON: Always and Forever

I like some of Whitney Houston's music, but honestly,I don't think she deserves to be in the RRHOF boxed I feel the same way about Mariah Carey. These are talented singers who sold alot of records, but should that be the only criteria?

Well since they mainly seem to pick people who will get ratings for the TV broadcast, I would guess so. Why else induct Abba and Green Day? razz It's not like Green Day was some obscure band. Abba wasn't even that popular in the USA. They're like Kylie Minogue, really big elsewhere, but only had 2 or 3 big hits in the US. Geto Boys came out around the same time as NWA, but NWA had more mainstream success and media coverage. Ice T was before both of them. They were all doing basically the same thing.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Saying it was called "race music' is watering it down...Rock'N Roll was originally called "Nigger Music" until White Artists came a long...

People might have called it that, like some called jazz "jungle bunny music", but "race music" was the official name in the publications of the time. Country was originally called "hillbilly" and later changed to "country & western" or C&W. But today, the western part is mostly left off. I think western was there in the 1st place because westerns were really popular in the movies and later TV. Technically, some of the 1st country stars were the singing cowboys from early talking movies.

Please turn in your Black-Card by December 31st....Did you forget Whitney STILL holds the record for having 7 back-to-back #1 songs on the billboard charts? Or maybe you forgot Whitney STILL has the Greatest selling Movie Soundtrack EVER....Bruh, I could go on and on about Whitney's musical'feats, but if you feel 80's Singer Pat Benatar is more deserving than Whitney then there's nothing left to debate...

Jon Bon Jovi Says ‘Two F—ers’ Are Keeping His Band Out of the Rock Hall of Fame
By Matthew Wilkening | October 25, 2016 | Ultimate Classic Rock

Jon Bon Jovi has revealed that he had a “big falling out” with one of the people who runs the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and says more than one member of the Rock Hall’s voting board has “made it their personal mission” to keep his band, Bon Jovi, from being inducted.

“I called [the guy] a few choice words,” the singer explained during an interview today with Howard Stern (as reported by NJArts). “And I’m never shy, when I see him, to call him a few more choice words. And there’s other guys on that thing that have made it their personal mission to f— with me. And that’s okay. I get it. I’ve sold more records than their artists.”

Bon Jovi declined to say which members of the board he was talking about, or what caused them to come into conflict. But he was quick to point out that he believes his band’s career is worthy of the honor: “The criteria is actually that your music had an influence on generations that came after you, and that it’s still out and very present. Yeah, we have every criteria.”

When asked by Stern “who would argue” against his band’s inclusion, the singer replied, “These two f—ers in the room.” Bon Jovi have been eligible for induction since 2009, the 25th anniversary of their 1984 debut album, but have been nominated only once, in 2011.

Bon Jovi will release This House Is Not for Sale, their first album since the departure of guitarist Richie Sambora, on Nov. 4.

See,that's the thing.I don't think that big record sales should be the only criteria.Using that logic, they should also induct Britney Spears or any number of those boy bands from the early 2000s.They sold lots of records, too.Whitney was an incredible singer, but was she groundbreaking and influential? Much of her music was glossy, commercial and "safe".Nothing wrong with that, but I just think there are other things that should be considered before inducting somebody. As for Pat Benatar, she was practically the queen of rock n'roll in the 80s.Her induction should be automatic.

Britney Spears and Boy & Girl Bands still speak Whitney's name because her Legacy & influence is Forever...The Generation of Female vocalists that came after Whitney consider her style as "The Standard" and yes that includes her Album sales and over-all packaging...I'm not saying Pat Benatar is not deserving of a nomination but the Generation that came after her do not speak her name....

Bon Jovi really should be in. Whatever you may think of their music they're still going strong after over 30 years, they've sold God knows how much records and some of their songs will go down as all time classics. The fact that they're not in, along with many more deserving acts, proves that the RockNroll Hall of fame is not something to take seriously.

I'm with you, Bon Jovi should have been inducted even before they were eligible...Putting that aside...I hate it when A-Listers like John Francis throw Shit out there just to say "Well I had a Falling out with one of the Elite board members, but i don't give a Fuck, who cares about some Rock'n Roll Hall Shit!"....Well, you do care John Francis and it's eating at you...You do want your band to be inducted and no one is buying "Well I'll Cuss that Board-member out again just to make the situation worse!" crap......Just apologize to The Elite board member and go from there...
