Right he touched it with "Treasure"...went all out with "Uptown Funk" and now swimming in it with "24K". I just hope he doesnt lose his original sound although I wouldnt care if he had four or five tracks like this on it lol.

Yasss!!! Bring back that good old early 80's electronic R&B/synthfunk sound. Thanks Bruno!!

I HEAR YOU.. But..

When is 'Mr Faux Funky'

going to make something that 'doesn't' remind you of something else?

Maybe i'd find this interesting for a day if i didn't know as much as i do about music.

Derivative Much? confused

Of course it's derivative, but that's what makes it good, IMO. He gets right that early 80s sound I love and grew up on. It's a fun song, nothing more, nothing less.

Probably never. I was never one to believe that Bruno would ever be an innovator. He spent most of his life impersonating other artists and it shows. It's just now he's choosing to mimic music I really like. I did not care much for his music until he started doing songs like this. I'll take the fun and funky songs from him, and look to others for innovation.

Rock On.. cool

Cool.. I have nothing against him..

He's just an artist that has a bit too much of the 'cheese factor' for me personally.

He's obviously a 'talented' guy.. Just not my cup o' tea.

AT ALL!!! lol

Reminds me of that last Macklemore hit. The youngsters will like it because they probably don't recognize the beats. To me it just sounds like old school r&b but then again, that is pretty much all Kanye West does, so it will probably be a hit.

I'm not getting some people's beef with Bruno making modern retro sounding hits. I'm not saying you have to love him but nowadays we need someone like Bruno who can near perfectly replicate these old sounds we like so much.

Every artist doesn't have to be an innovator. So long as Bruno gives credit to his influences I don't see a problem.

It's not a problem as such, but when someone is absolutely massive but completely derivative then I think it's fair to call them out on it. No one is saying he's not allowed make music but that doesn't mean we can't want better shrug

I dont get it either. What I also find interesting is that people are always bashing Bruno from being "derivative" but I hardly see any criticisms of pop stars who make far worse music. At least he is trying to make some what decent radio listenable music.

Exactly. Plus, Bruno had already made a name for himself with many hits under his belt before these last three tracks so they can kick rocks

High hopes for this album but this song is not doing it for me. Yeah I like the Zapp and Roger sounds but who needs another "I'm a playa, rich, sucess so lets dance" song...

Maybe I'm just getting old.

He is the best thing going on in pop music for this generation and I will always root for him. He always proves me right and the naysayers wrong. I remember when it came out that he was going to do the Super Bowl and everyone doubted him but he ended up having the biggest SB half time rating of all time, even surpassing Madonna.

I like this song alot. More than the new single. Funny I was watching JT's new concert on Netflix last night and noticed a cute girl in the background vocals and now I see her today in Bruno's SNL performance. biggrin The one with the belly shirt/ear hoops.

Image result for JT concert Netflix background vocals

That's her on the right. Nicole Hurtz is her name.

Pretty sure the backing track was canned, not those guys on stage.

But the production sounds perfect! I'll bet he has a smokin' band if he tours.

"24K Magic" sounds like DJ Quik.
"Chunky" sounds like "Somebody Else's Guy" by Jocelyn Brown.

I wouldn't call them samples or interpolations, just the tempo and rhythm and instrument choices.
