I've never been a fan of Kanye West. having grown up on REAL MUSIC from the likes of.. Earth Wind & Fire, Al Green, Rufus/Chaka Khan, Bootsy/P-Funk, Steely Dan & myriad other REAL musicians & singers of the 70s/early 80s.. it's hard for me to lower my standard to that of what passes today as "music". I was even into hip-hop - Tribe Called Quest, mainly - up until about the early 90s..

but I digress..

to me Kanye seems like a train wreck waiting to happen. I know many performers have HUGE EGOS & a distorted (to say the least) perspective of life &/or their work.. Kanye appears to be somewhere beyond that. I don't say this to be snarky or sarcastic or to take any shots at him, but I don't know if or what type of emotional or psychological problem he might have. if there is something like this happening to him, ideally he would get the appropriate health. you know it's getting out of control when his mother-in-law - Kris Kardashian - thinks Kanye needs "damage control" because she thinks he's hurting "the Kardashian brand" (ha.. think about how funny THAT is, for a moment..)

also seems to me that Kanye is spreading himself too thin - like prince has done in the past. Kanye has his music, his fashion line, touring.. 2 children now.. it's hard to fit all those things in - & do any of them well or at an acceptable level.

whatever could be done to help Kanye get - or regain - that important thing called PERSPECTIVE..

he ought to want to do that. soon. before he's the next subject of 1 of those "true movies"..

I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

Just thought I'd say this:

The artists I'm mentioning now, would either sound very different, or would never be known as:

The Weeknd
Frank Ocean
James Blake
Miguel
Rihanna
Drake...

if it wasn't for Kanye, his wild production, visuals, styles, lyrical content... he changed the whole industry into a more good guy wave with his debut, and later turned the whole industry to a colder and darker wave, he'd also take the arrogant-ignorant style to a whole other leverl... and the industry followed. What about his emotional rapper turns singer? I know both andre 3000 and cee-lo did it before him, but Kanye did it BIG! Even though he can't sing for shit. He had the catchyness to it, that even the haters can't forget if they're exposed to it.

Sit down please!

cool

What about OutKast and Pharrell? I think Kanye was a game changer but Pharrell blows Kanye out of the water in my opinion.

Pharrell is mos def a game changer. But he has made those Clipse/Kelis-beats throughout his whole carreer, and made a few changes every now and then to make it fit different artists and concepts. I'm exaggerating of course. But he has a tendency to be alot more of a formula producer than Kanye. And that's coming from someone who really loves ALOT of Pharrell stuff. It's just how I feel about it. Pharrell has probably sold more beats, and been featured on more charted singles. But doesn't make him more of a game changer.

I mentioned Andre 3000. Of course OutKast as a whole are just as important. They used to be my favourite band, even bigger than Prince to me when I was younger. However, they have always been more of a underground rap group that manages to get big selling singles, while Kanye is a pop icon that manages to make art out of pop. They come from different worlds. And even though OutKast has started alot of stuff that would get bigger through other artists later, they don't make enough music to have as much impact as an artist that has been moving people in so many platforms for so many years. Kanye does it all. I know he does alot, that are rewarded with hatred, and people get blinded by his arrogance etc. But he seriously is underrated because of that. People put their hate glasses on when they see him, and those hate glasses produce irrational thinking.

Unfortunately this person is serious and delusional too. They are so hung up on black celebrities that they can't see anything clearly. Kanye is jealous of others and I believe he has very low self esteem. It may appear the opposite to some, but his behavior screams low self esteem. KCool blames it all on white media rolleyes get a life!

That is a VERY racist remark to make! I am in the entertanment industry. I will defend anyone in my craft black, white, latino etc. I will stand by my comment.

Kanye's mother raised him to put himself on a pedestal over anyone. It is NOTHING wrong with thinking highly of yourself. Justin does what he wants,Miley does what she wants,Lindsey does what she wants,

Why can't Kanye?

Wrong! There is EVERYTHING wrong with that scenario...and probably a key factor in his problems then and now.

Lindsay Lohan is routinely blasted for her behaviour. Miley has been the subject of all kinds of shitting on for her goofy antics. Let's not pretend Kanye is the only person in entertainment that gets a bad rap. His problem is that he never shuts the fuck up about himself and keeps making outrageous claims about being the greatest artist of all time and whatnot. There's nothing wrong with a healthy ego, but this guy is delusional and people are right to put him in check for it.

back to the topic on the Life of Pablo

digging low lights

This recording is sampled from the acapella version of Kings of Tomorrow’s (also known as Sandy Rivera) “So Alive (Original Mix).” The recording seems to have been made by an uncredited vocalist who was hired by Rivera. Since the vocalist was uncredited, Sandy owned the rights and is credited on Tidal.

Kanye West has backed down is his bid to become a rap god, insisting he was wrong to state he was taking "the throne of rap".

The outspoken 38-year-old has been keeping the social media world amused and bemused in equal measure with his Twitter ramblings ever since Valentine's Day (14Feb16), when he asked Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg for financial help after claiming he was $53 million in debt.

As part of his plea he stated he had done "the impossible" and "retook the throne of rap" but days later, the star has taken the unusual step of apologising for his comments.

"Man, I was thinking about when I commented on the idea of ‘taking the rap throne’," he began. "That statement hasn’t been sitting well with me. That’s a dated mentality. I’m not on that. Every rapper is somebody’s favorite. A wise man should be humble enough to admit when he’s wrong and change his mind based on new information (sic)."

The father-of-two added some rappers make their mark on the street, while others achieve success on the radio or in the clubs, but at the end of the day, everyone has something they do best.

While Kanye has always been his own number one fan - even comparing himself to God in the past - he admitted his constant boasting is a personality trait, which he battles with at times.

"In rap we have been developing a brotherhood," he added. "My number one enemy has been my ego… there is only one thrown and that’s God's...(sic)."

His latest 12-tweet run of messages comes after it was claimed his wife Kim Kardashian hates his penchant for ranting on social media.

"Kim can't stand it," a source told People magazine. "She is all for self-promotion, but doesn't approve of Twitter drama."

Kanye West is a tabloid celebrity now. It's no longer about the music anymore. He has turned himself into a media punching bag. This new album will be in the news for about a week, then the attention will return back to his Twitter feuds and his Hollywood marriage.

It's about the music if you want/choose it to be. This album will ultimately be one of the best of this year... Yet you choose to focus on his media personality... Your choice. You can stay hating, whilst the rest of us are enjoying some GREAT music... Music that I will continue to enjoy for weeks, months, years to come [Edited 2/15/16 3:00am]

So far I have found everything je does rippng off underground artists and nt doing it better. I really tried to get nto the guy, but he is all hype, not a whole lot of actual talent.
I'll give the new one a shot, I always try stuff becasue I understand any artist can make a great record out of nowhere and suck out of now here (all based on my preferences in music of course) I just dont see what the big deal is. If he came with actual invention and I didnt like it I could at least give him props for that.

Well, changing the music trends every other year for a decade says more than what kind of effects you are using. You must have close to no idea of what the art of sampling is, to use this as a proof for his lack of talents. Have you ever tried flipping samples like Dilla? Finding the right pieces and parts of songs, pitching up and down, placing it in a groove to make it really sit in the bigger picture, and get your own sound out of it. Also autotune can be used creativly, just like any other effect. Does a guitarist suck if he is not playing a fretless guitar? Does it make him less genuis. Autotune is just an effect. It doesn't make the music better or worse. It might be the wrong effect for most purposes, and right effect for some purposes. Of course, it's also used for corrective purposes. But that can also be said about anything that forces a pitch to a note. Frets does that pretty damn well. If you make an instrument that only has the E major notes... does that make you less of a genuis if you make a freaking hot song with it in E major? NO! Find better ways to argue a point than these random biased outbursts.
