Wow this is truly ironic. Did anyone know he had cancer (fans). He REALLY was an artist til the end, the timing of the release, the video for Lazarus, the title Lazarus, lyrics. It was as if he was artistically capturing his own demise. I may be compelled to give Blackstar a critical listen. The timing of this is all so laser...

From what I'd known as a casual fan he'd been grasping with the cancer for some time. What a bittersweet morning to hear the news in the other room in disbelief....

Nobody outside his inner circle knew he had cancer.

The fans knew that he must have been in bad health for ages, because he went from being full of life to a bloated, cranky-looking old man within a year or two. However, that's essentially what having heart problems tends to do to your appearance, the cancer was a surprise.
