I blame Cold play for that. There dumb as hell. lol Why allow another singer who did half time 3 years ago to take up YOUR MOMENT? nuts Its the same silly thing Justin Timberlake did when he made his comeback. He did a joint concert with Jay Z.Lady Gaga did a similiar thing with Beyonce. Why do these artists allow the Carters to piggy back off their success? Are they that intimidated? It wouldn't be me, I tell you that! I be damn if I share MY once in a lifetime Super Bowl MOMENT with a singer who is overexposed 24/7 and who performed there 3 years ago nuts

Do ya'll really think the industry feels Beyonce is better than Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Beatles, etc? I don't recall any of them getting this type of ass kissing treatment. I don't even think Elvis got this type of treatment! Beyonce is running the music industry, she can do whatever she wants! I want to know why though? It can't possibly be because they think she is better than Mozart lol Is it because of her money? Last time I checked Madonna was the richest living singer. She doesn't sell a lot of records like Adele or Taylor Swift:-P Her last number one hit was 8 years ago. So what other possibilites could it be? nuts lol I want to know the science behind this conspiracy. hmmm

I'll respond in this thread too since the other one is gonna be locked/deleted:

She's a good live performer and people joke about her being God so much that it's developed a cult like following.

I'm glad she wasn't asked. She's not Halftime Show material but then again neither is Coldplay.

Beyonce though? I knew they weren't going to be performing alone but did it HAVE to be Beyonce? Really? Maybe Taylor would have been better, at least it would have been someone other than Beyonce.

I wish they would do a battle of the bands type format like Duran Duran vs Guns N Roses or Metallica, Foreigner or something. Are all of those guys still performing?

I dunno....that seems more Super Bowl-ish. lol

That was a different point in time for the Halftime Show. It wouldn't be for another 8 years when MJ performed where he set the standard for superstar performances that is still in place today.

Looks like more work was put into the 1985 show to me than the one Mike did and the ones after him. A more famous person does not make it better than a less known one

I like that idea smile I wish they would ask more od school bands to perform....Hall and Oates would be a perfect choice.Imagine them doing an 80s-themed halftime show.

I'm not a huge fan of hers, but I'm curious to know why you don't think she is "Halftime show material" confuse To me,she seems exactly the type of performer that they would ask to perform.I could imagine her performing and bringing out a surprise guest....Kanye West! LOL

When did I say MJ's performance was better?

I was referring to the fact that before 1993, the Halftime Show was performed by lesser known/ less popular acts.

Taylor just doesn't strike me as such. Sure she's popular but she doesn't really fit the bill for a Super Bowl Halftime Show in my eyes, much less a milestone edition such as this year's. Not saying she couldn't put on a decent performance but nah, I just can't visualize it.

Kanye joining her would be even more lame and contrived than when Taylor presented him the Vanguard Award at the VMA's. If anything let Kanye perform solo. Speaking of rappers, I think him and/ or Jay should be performing with Coldplay instead of Beyonce and Bruno. Both of them actually have worked with Coldplay before and could put on a good show since they've proven to have chemistry with each other.

Overall I don't get why Bruno and Beyonce are performing so soon yet again. Is Katy Perry going to join them too? She may as well.

You said the modern superstar performances has a standard that started with Mike, which implies the earlier ones didn't. Like they were just thrown together with not much thought to it. But to the average football fan, the acts today are no more relevant to them than Carol Channing was in the past and she performed on several halftime shows and so did Up With People. I've been around NFL fans and they generally did not care about the halftime show, only the game. lol

The media/industry is always talking about how this generation doesn't have alot of talent BUT there are other talents out there if they were given these same opportunies to show their talents. I am not sure why the industry ONLY wants a few acts to get these opportunities when there are far more talented singers and performers out here, just give them a chance!

Jaziman Sullivan KILLED it at this years Soul Train awards. I thought it was better than anything I have ever seen Beyonce do! Man, just imagine if she had performed at the Grammys or at the Stevie Wonder tribute. Gurl can SANG and is a good performer. Its really sad she will never get the same opportunities to show her talent disbelief
