Kanye West - The Greatest Living Rockstar Alive Today

Kanye West is now the greatest living rockstar today ( Kaney, 2015 ) according to the rapper himself.

Apparently, folks on the Interenet have their own opinions: http://www.buzzfeed.com/k....uxgMAMRe5

Agree! I have always found "King James" to be very overrated.

true dat. noone

okay. maybe besides Rhianna

oh, and Beyonce of course

oh yes, and Katy Perry

but that's all.

ah, maybe it's also fair to mention Taylor Swift.

oh, and Maroon 5. and Nicki Minaj too. and Ed Sheeran. Pharrell. Bruno Mars. Justin Timberlake. Adele. Kelly Clarkson.oh fuck, forget it... in reality over the last few years every fucking rat had more impact in the charts than Hit-Less-Kanye

don't get me wrong, Billboard chart is almsot FULL crap, and Kanye has made a bunch of pretty enjoyable records. and I still prefer his so-so-mid-size-talent over almost all artists mentioned above. but if you wanna be the biggest Rock Star, then you gotta make one BIG FUCKIGN HIT after another. and the deluded fool almost completely failed there. big-ego-wanker living in an alternate universe where banging Kim makes someone a Rock Star. idiot.

Has anyone tried unplugging the United States and plugging it back in?

Actually -- regardless of the merits -- he may have had an argument if he'd left out "Living"/"Alive."

Is hip-hop small-r rock (f/k/a "race music")? Yeah, I'd lean towards that.

Is hip-hop the dominant force in rock today? Again, probably.

Is Kanye hip-hop's most creative artist? Again, probably.

But "Greatest Living Rockstar" or "Greatest Rockstar Alive" is a very exclusive neighborhood that covers all of rock history. Unless you own property in that neighborhood like, e.g., Stevie, Paul, Mick, Bruce, Prince or [add or delete names here], you should keep that phrase out of your mouth.

Has this clown done anything after Jesus walks? That was a decent song, relatively speaking of course, because OGs shit out better turds than that.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

How are we defining "rock" and "rock star" here?

I suggested in my reply that in 2015 we could define "rock" broadly to include hip-hop. But that's playing Devil's Advocate for Kanye.

Hey, rappers are the new (or current, rather) rock stars/ hip hop is the new rock and way more popular than rock as a genre has ever been.

Kanye West was the best rapper in the game at one time. It was all before the death of his

mother and since he seems to have hit a wall. Before his mom's death every thing he touched

turned to gold. He even bought one of my favorite rappers Common his greatest success with

his production skills. Yes he has become arrogant but it's pretty much calculated to keep folks

talking. lol

As far as LeBron James goes if you are blind to the fact he is the best basketball player in the game

right now, then you must not watch too much basketball or either pro MJ or pro Kobe or pro

LeBron hater. lol

MBDTF is good but severely overrated and Yeezus is garbage. Give me CD, LR, Graduation, or even 808s before either of them.
