I'll be honest... Trey Songz for me epitomizes Plastic R&B He's had a few good tracks, but not many. I used to love Chris's music, but not the last few records Maybe do, just not like did before | |

I sort of like both of them but am looking forward to Ocean's new album a lot more.

Damage Control: Miguel Credits Billy Corgan on Wildheart to Avoid Copyright Issues
"Leaves," which the Smashing Pumpkins frontman co-wrote, sounds similar to his band's hit "1979." After shaking the music world with his confident comments about his "superior musical ability" in comparison to Frank Ocean, Miguel can't afford anymore drama. To avoid just that, the R&B crooner revealed that he credited Billy Corgan with a co-writer credit on "Leaves" to side-step any copyright issues since the song sounds pretty similar to the Smashing Pumpkins frontman's hit "1979."| CLICK HERE FOR MUSIC ST...LAWSUITS |According to News.Com.Au, to avoid any possible confusion in the future, the singer credited the band who inspired the track. "The guitar riff just came to me in such a subconscious way, the song literally wrote itself in minutes," he said. "It was kind of reminiscent of '1979.' I was a fan of them growing up, but I never bought their albums or saw them live. It's weird how some things just sink in."His "subconscious inspiration" pushed him to tap Corgan who, luckily, approved of the cut. "It's cool they were cool about everything," Miguel said. "It's all about respect. We're all standing on the shoulders of giants at this point."With news just breaking that Pharrell and Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" case is getting even messier, it's safe to say that Miguel definitely dodged a bullet with this one. | |

---- Sorry that comment was spot on. 30 odd years later we know who should got that Grammmy. I believe P has 8 Grammmie after being nominated over 8 times. He can bitch if he wants to but hey you think Frank Ocean is going to be around. | |

> I agree with everything you said here. I"m a bonafide SOTT supporter and really wanted it to win. But I also adored The Joshua Tree and when I read Prince's comments I was surprised, mainly because I felt he might've been a fan. But if you remember back then Prince was upping people like Bette Midler in interviews. Suffice it to say U2 had that year wrapped up in a revivalist-styled bow. As for Frank I think he'll stick around if for no other reason than he's an industry fave and I think he will continue to be. He can run poetic circles around Miguel which egg heads love. He'll never be big because he's really more indie. His audience is small but diverse. To look at them filing into one of his shows you'd think everyone liked him. I like Miguel as much as the next guy but from the sounds of it it seems he's already matured as an artist and settled into a sound. I think Frank will continue tio throw curveballs, to the chigrin of the masses.

I,too, was disappointed with Prince's comments about U2.He made it seem as if he only goes to awards shows to win something. It was just a few years earlier when he was singing "I don't care to win awards" | |

I feel that, when you go to an awards show, you shouldn't be there just to win something. You should be there to celebrate the music of your peers,too....and to be happy for them when they win, too. When U2 won, they mentioned Prince in their acceptance speech. They said something really good about him.But I guess that wasn't enough for Prince. He just wanted the award | |

Everybody likes to get recognition and he did not show up at the Grammies for 18 after that so he got over it but come on 30 nominations and only 8 wins he had good reason to take s swipe. | |

Do you realize that there are many talented artists who have never won a Grammy? Marvin Gaye had been recording for several decades, but didn't win his first Grammy until 1983 (for "Sexual Healing").By 1987,Prince already had several Grammies. He's gotten plenty of recognition. | |
