Some love for Kate!

It's been almost a year since she WOWed audiences who never thought they'd see her on stage with a mindboggling piece of music and theatre showing everybody she still rules as one of the greatest artists ever. And then of course she retreated into obscurity again. Fine. If that's what she wants, cool. She can come out of retirement, deliver a devastating show and then disappear again. It only makes her more great. In the 1980s, nobody but Prince was as unique, as inventive, as visionary as La Bush! Come on all you Kate fans! Did you go to the shows last year? Have any favorite albums? Show some love for This Womans Work!

Hey! I HATED her the first time I was introduced 2 her in 1987, but after a few weeks, I started humming some of the songs. I still can't listen 2 "Waking The Witch" after 30 yrs. It scares the shit outta me when I'm alone, so I usually skip that one, but my #1 fave song is "Never Be Mine." LOVE "The Red Shoes," but especially am blown away by "Aerial." Nice 2 meet u! smile

I was a huge fan up to The Directors Cut, which I found disappointing as all the remakes aren't as good as the originals, but no biggie.

Then came 50 Words For Snow, the first Kate Bush album that I thought was alternately tedious and dull throughout.

Then the concerts. The tickets were far too expensive and were only held in London. I thought that was contemptuous of her fans. After over thirty years of no live gigs, the very least the multi millionaire could have done was charge a reasonable price (in a time of so-called austerity) and actually travel to the fans with a tour.

I still like almost everything before The Directors Cut, but the details of the concerts left a nasty taste my mouth.

The live show was a huge production. Travelling with it would have been very expensive. Even if someone is a multi millionaire, you can't expect them to undertake something that's going to be a financial loss. So even if she had toured, tickets wouldn't be any cheaper. Ticket prices are high these days. With £ 104 for the balcony seat that I had, I don't think Kate was any more expensive than other rock stars.

Man I love nothing better than turning the lights down and playing that whole second side.

I was in London and bought tix from a scalper. I couldn't believe that I got in.

It was simply incredible. People were crying. Sh*t, I was crying

The Red Shoes is my favorite album. Then Hounds of Love.
But it's all perfect.

She was a doll.
I'm glad she didn't tour all over the world and be piggy about it
It all seemed genuine and from a place of gratitude and artistry

Love her.

"Director's Cut" was a complete waste of time 4 me too. Instead, she should have simply remastered her entire discography with 2nd discs of "director's cuts." "50 Words" is beautiful, wintery bliss in my opinon. Slow, yes, but as rich as anything else she's ever done. smile

I think I'll revisit 50 Words soon and see if my opinion on it has changed, I don't think I've played it since I bought it.

The thread was called LOVE for Kate. If you don't like her, be so kind as to not comment at all. That's exactly why I ignored the "love for Madge" thread. Or all those Jackson threads. (Joe Jackson is good.)
