The most disturbing music video that I've ever seen...

OK, so i debated as to whether i should even post this video. Not so much because the video bothers me personally, but because I'm not so sure that its ok to post videos like this, on here.*

Extremely NSFW. Video has extreme nudity, sexual situations, blood, guts, foul language, and anti religious sentiments.

Anyway so what's your opinion on controversial lyrics and imagery in music ? Is there a limit as to what you consider acceptable, or is it all about free speech(within reason), and freedom of expression? After all, even though, lyrics can be extremely personal, they are basically just words, and most singers, rappers, comedians, etc, don't act on the crazy shit that they say.

As for me. For the longest time, Ive tried to stay away from songs that promote racism, sexism, homophobia, and inner city violence, because i think they are somehow "bad". The crazy thing about that, though, is ill listen to extreme metal songs that talk about satan, mass murder, genocide, etc, etc, and not really trip on it. Not because i agree with that stuff(i don't), but because in my mind, mass murder, satanism, etc, doesn't really affect me in a personal way, but racism and black on black violence does. So that's a big contradiction within myself.

Anyway I'm rambling, so I'm done...What are your thoughts on the video ?

Is it art, or is it garbage ?

*Just to prevent any mod snips, I decided to follow the GD forum guidelines and link the video instead of posting it directly.

I decided to post a censored version of FGR(with lyrics). The lyrics are pretty cool. In a sadistic and funny kinda way.

It's got a long way to go to be classified as art if you ask me.

I wouldn't necessarily call it garbage though. I can only think the creators had an intention to disgust and revolt their viewers and if that's the case then I guess they succeeded.

Not my cup of blood...er, tea.

Would it be threadjacking to post another disturbing video that I would say is artistic in nature?

I just happened on this a couple of nights ago and although I didn't like it, I was fascinated and couldn't look away. In the end it left me puzzling about what kind of human beings would put so much energy into making this kind of stuff.

It was awfully disgusting but in an artful way. I would never seek stuff out like this but since it came up (youtube is now doing that auto-play thing where it starts another video after the one you just watched unless you hit cancel) I let it go on.

See what you think JoeyC and if you want me to take it off, I will.

I'm not going to watch it but I'm getting a chuckle out of the band's name and the song title.

I'm guessing it's nothing more than a scream for attention. But isn't that what rock and roll is all about? smile

Yeah, that's what concerns me the most(about violent media). Personally, even as a kid, violent images never really bothered me. But as a adult. Sexual situations(in media) do bother me. I don't quite know why that is. Anyway, i do believe that some people watch(and hear) that stuff, and then act out in violent ways. Sometimes I wonder where the responsibility lies though. Is it the responsibility of the person who creates that crazy shit, to censor themselves, or should they be allowed to do almost anything?

And that kinda gets me to the video that i posted. I do find some of it disturbing. Mainly the parts where he's punching the women, and sodomizing the man. Also that whole f*** God, talk, was kinda hard to hear. I realize that its kinda weird that i trip on that stuff, and not the more gruesome images. I guess why i trip on those things, instead of the other, more violent and bloody images is because in my mind, women getting punched, and beaten, is something that happens everyday, and is a major societal problem. But the other, serial killer, torture, stuff, is not(in the US). At least its not in the news, everyday. Just to be somewhat clear. I'm not saying that serial killers aren't out there abusing and torturing people, because they are, and they are a problem. Its just ??...fuck... i hope you guys get what I'm getting at...

As far as the sodomy thing.. Well no one wants to be raped.

Anywaaaay,

The main thing that i find highly offensive and objectionable, is the sexualisation of young kids(and teenagers), in music videos, movies, fashion, TV, and magazines. Its pretty crazy that as a society, we let entertainment media, turn young kids into sex objects. I think that stuff not only damages the person who is being objectified, but society as a whole.

Also, I was thinking about art, and what constitutes it. Some people see 'art', in some peculiar ways. Initially, the video that i posted, got me thinking about art, and what that means. But this movie that i watched a few days ago(on Netflix), got me thinking about it even more. The movie is called Wetlands. Its a German film about this teenage girl who, among other things, didn't have a problem with going days without washing her privates, thought it was a sexual turn on for people to smell her vagina, outside her clothes, and other crazy stuff. Anyway, personally, i found the movie to be somewhat offensive, and thought to myself, what's the point in all this? The movie did tell a story, but overall, it seemed to be big on shock, and not so big on story.

I can deal with a certain amount of shock imagery as long as the story is the main focus. Some of the most interesting, and disturbing, movies i have ever seen, have had very little violence and nudity.

So, i guess the point I'm trying to make(in all of this) is, we humans need, and should have, some self censorship. And words and images can and do affect people, in negative ways.

P.S.

@DakutiusMaximus.Yeah, the video you posted is disturbing. Dude's teeth, and that girl's baby voice... eek lol

Cleaned it up a bit. I never get it right the first time. Smh.

Considering the band is named "Cattle Decapitation", that should be a signal that you are not about to watch a video of anything pleasant.

I haven't watched it but I know the band are vegan, antiwar lefty types that like to reflect our Sick Society back at us in the most extreme way. I think that's OK. Most people are not going to be interested, that's also OK. It's extreme and it means to be, they're not trying to pretend it is anything else.

Yep. And that's an unfortunate situation to be in. I feel for people who are so damaged that they act out after watching a certain type of movie, playing a violent video game, or after listening to a particular type of music.

Cattle Decapitation is a "militant vegan" (or a vegetarian) band. This type of imagery is supposed to be some sort of statement on the treatment of animals ("if humans were treated like animals").

Having said that I find the whole band stupid and their music's pretty bad too. I can't find anything that nice to say about these death / grind bands that use those stupid computerized drums.
