I've always heard Kid Rock was racist. But, he is right about not understanding her popularity. But, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand she is popular because of her PR team. Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Rhianna are all brands who just happen to record music. They may all have amazing PR teams but that won't aid them in being remembered for recording classic albums. No one will be singing or playing their records 30 years from now. As tabloid darlings and fashion icons, they may be remembered. As singers, they will be forgotten.

For the ones calling Kid racist, its obvious the analogy he made went right over some of ya'll heads. He has a bi-racial child so he is not racist. Maybe his analogy could have been worded better but I understood his point perfectly and I say this as a black woman. Once again, his point was when people who use her looks ("big butt") as the reason for her greatness as an artist, he retorts with what he prefers (big breasted white women)-meaning her looks are not a good enough reason for him to like her as an "artist" and then goes on to explain why because she has no "purple rain" or classics which IS true.

Beyonce is doing nothind different than what Madonna, Janet, and others did before her: maximize her exposure and marketability during her peak earning years. That leads to overexposure, so be it. She will decline, because Father Time is undefeated when it comes to popular music artists.

These types of complaints coming from Kid Rock are par for the course with an overexposed artist. Just imagine what Madonna's fans and critics alike would have been said today, if the Web had been around 25 years ago.

Older listeners like myself can't decide whether "Crazy In Love" or "Drunk In Love" will be classics in 20-30 years any more than older listeners in the 80s could decide whether "Like A Virgin" (or for that matter, "When Doves Cry") would be future classics. The reality is, the children and young adults that came up in the 2000's and 2010's will decide.

Somehow, his little statement managed to be sexist and racist. Old mad cracker-ass Republican.

He's just jealous (when you see the quote in more context, that is evident). "Say My Name" crushes anything he ever put out; it's not even necessary to go into Beyoncé's solo career to dispatch him.

and it's HILARIOUS that he even thinks Beyoncé would ever look at him. I imagine Beyoncé likes black men with TALENT.

LOL Yeah to be fair, Kid Rock brought up race first. I mean he could have just said skinny women with big boobs and we would have gotten the point. I think I understand what he was trying to say now. As poorly worded as it was. At first it came off the me like he was saying he couldn't find her attractive because she's Black. But whatever.

I still see his point and understand what he's saying but he worded that horribly and for people to not understand why some may take umbrage with the "skinny white chicks" line is just straight ignorance.

I can see why people are upset because I do think his comments could have been worded better. However, I think calling him a racist is really making his comments more than what he intended (and really misses the mark of his point) He has a bi- racial child. He is obviously not a racist and I don't think those were the intentions of his comments. I just think he has no filter and is not articulate. Personally, I think his comments sound more arrogant than racist to be honest.

By all means, I wasn't trying to call him racist. He definitely does come off as arrogant even though he's right.

I always wondered how Kid Rock sold so much. Devil Without a Cause was a good album when i was a kid. But i mean only one of the songs even went top 40. I know MTV played a role... but 11 million? how? and i remember people actually kind of respected him in that era. RS gave his album 4 stars & Robert Christgau gave it an A-

Now he's seen as a joke and his albums are poorly rated. How times change lol

Cowboy was the only track from the Devil Without A Cause album that charted on Billboards Hot 100 USA Singles Charts. All other release singles were Top 10 hits on the rock charts.

uhhh God knows why went to 19 on the hot 100 cool

A bit of a side note, LOL @ this constant mention of "PR machine". Not a shred of proof or even justification. Y'all will literally pull bullshit out of your CAVERNOUS asses and smear it all over this board. It's fantastically hilarious. lol

Beyoncé is the biggest star of this era (and probably one of the last superstars). Whether you like it or not. And there is nothing you can do about it.

Most celebrities have PR teams and many of them plant stories in the press. You don't have to be a brainiac to know that.

I was at home the other day watching "The Talk" and they were discussing a totally unecessary story Beyonce and her PR machine planted in the press about buying a house in California and how one of her hot-shot celebrity friends convinced her to do it. Anyway, Dame Edna was a guest host on the show that particular day. When they asked her how did she feel about it, her response was, "Well, I don't find it to be a terribly interesting story." lol

It's really sad that whenever Beyonce does anything, she and her PR team have to get it out to the media. To me, it appears that she is really insecure and afraid that if she isn't CONSTANTLY in the press, people will forget about her. Unfortnuately, often times, the more successful you appear to be, the more insecure you become because you're afraid of losing it.

Yeah but you do have to have a BASE when you make an accusation, and y'all don't have any. Ever.

Beyoncé is massively popular, therefore people talk about Beyoncé A LOT, even when it is ridiculously mundane. That's just how it works. I've seen flat-out made-up stories on Beyoncé (how many times has she been pregnant, for example?). They print whatever garners interest and Beyoncé is one of those things.

That's it. That's IT. If Beyoncé wanted to be in the media so badly I'm sure she'd bother you know, giving interviews... or tweeting... or doing something other than literally doing her job and going home.

I'm not quite sure what the point of your "side note" was. Of course, Beyonce is the star of the era, popular music currently revolves around her.

But she does not become a household name simply by "doing her job and going home." She must leverage her talents and output on several platforms to become that star. That's where marketing and media invariably intersect. As great as Prince was at his zenith, Cavallo, Ruffalo and Fargnoli helped make him a household name. Bey likewise has had good people around her to help her become a superstar. And she and her team have used their influence and leverage to great effect. There's nothing inherently wrong with that.

Let's not delude ourselves, though, and act as if Beyonce simply wants to perform her music and go home. She. is. Everywhere. And she's got a great team to help get her everywhere.

The point was to laugh at this weird, creepy, and repetitive conversation on this board about Beyoncé's alleged PR machine allegedly planting stories and paying news outlets to hype her up. That's ludicrous (and would be an incredible waste of money).

I'm aware that that is not how Beyoncé became a household name. I think we all are. But I'm speaking on what she's doing right now, as a household name. And that is doing her job, going home, and living her life. Think about it. When was the last time you saw a Beyoncé interview or commercial on TV?
