I don't understand his image/persona in this article at all. Kid Rock started his career with a flat top fade and a rap album on Jive Records in 1990.

I agree with him 100%. The scarier thing to me is the fact that they're probably going to put her in the RnR Hall of Fame...and for what? Garbage. I guess she's the best piece of garbage in the pile of garbage that passes for "pop" music now, but it's still garbage. My dad said the same thing about Prince, so whatever...to each his/her own.
I dunno. I don't think she is as popular as her "hype" makes it seem in America and globally. She damn sure ain't no where near MJ or Madonna popularity globally. I know people who have gone to her concerts who find her to be very overrated and there are people my age that don't care for her. I know people in the UK who have also said she is not that popular there and Rihanna is. That isn't the first time I've heard that from people who live there.

Her stans don't understand what makes a good album. Sure the look, music videos, and everything are a plus. But her album was so... meh. They look at the fact she broke the internet with her album. They look at the fact she made a video for every song. They look at the fact she sold a lot and did this and did that. But was the album actually good? outside all the other stuff?

Every time I hear about her recent album its always about how well it sold. Its never about how great the music was. How many hits did she even have off that album? I've only ever heard of Drunk in love.
Beyonce just has some amazing PR working for her, basically. Her "brand" is more iconic than her music I feel. People say "Single Ladies" is her most iconic song but I don't know. I don't know if the song would be as popular if not for the video.
And I don't know why this part was even nessescary. It's not like it's impossible to find someone attractive even if they're not your "preference." Doesn't Kid Rock have a biracial child anyway? I've always heard Kid Rock was racist. But, he is right about not understanding her popularity. But, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand she is popular because of her PR team. Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Rhianna are all brands who just happen to record music. They may all have amazing PR teams but that won't aid them in being remembered for recording classic albums. No one will be singing or playing their records 30 years from now. As tabloid darlings and fashion icons, they may be remembered. As singers, they will be forgotten.
