Eminem lost me when he started hanging out with Rihanna. If not for that, I would still be on his team.

Seriously two times in a row...im like....desperate much
He addresses this on mm2, but still doesnt take, away from the fact he was reaching...losing his original fans in the process.

I can see how folks can be over Eminem, all the reasons I read are legit reasons. I still love his music though.

I'm basically over Prince, but for more agregious reasons than that of Slim Shady. Eminem still shows love to his fans, unlike a certain afro wearing midget in high heel boots...

THIS!!!

Marshal Matter LP is all you need imo. At least for me it's the only one you need. Lose Yourself is way too overplayed for me to ever enjoy it again. It was overplayed when it came out... and all throughout the 00's. And even now! Not Afraid was basically lose yourself part 2 rolleyes and was as cheesy and poppy as them come.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Eminem to me is another one of those artists whose true talent is dwarfed by an exploitation on one-trick gimmickry and playing to a marketable persona. The forced effort to shock, the swipes at folks, the yelling -- it's all stuff that's spectacular anymore only to a Top 40 radio audience. In fact, it's somewhat telling that while he seems to go out of his way to play the thug in these ways, his work has simultaneously become insufferably poppy. It's almost like he knows he can only truly upset suburban families anymore, so he reels them in with his corny shtick in order to purposely offend them over and over.

As someone suggested, Em's recent a capella CXYPHER alongside Royce da 5'9 is a great showcase of his bars, because it places him back in a street environment, where his mere offensiveness isn't impressing anyone. That's the Eminem I'd appreciate. I'd love it if by some strange turn of events he lost his recording contract, couldn't secure another, and was forced to re-enter the seedy, struggling battle scene. I'm of the mind the most interesting lyrical talent in hip hop these days is found there, and I suspect it'd force Eminem back onto his A game.
