spit The masses? Honey, those strong sales have come from his fans buying the album as soon as it comes out without even hearing it first. This happens every time Prince puts out a new album. And once his all his fans already have it, the sales drop, like usual.

.

But even if the masses did like it, and yes, I've seen it has gotten good reviews from the press, this is the same press that praises all the other bullshit music that's out these days so if the press likes it, then that means the album is no different than everyone else's music these days. Getting good reviews from the press these days is not an indication of an album being good because the press does not like actual good music these days. If they liked actual good music, the state of music wouldn't be in the mess it is in these days.

.

I do find it hilarious though, that when Prince doesn't care about or even puts the masses down, so do the fams. They're right there along with him putting the masses down also. And when Prince starts to care about attracting the masses, all of a sudden, the fams conveniently change their minds and start caring about the masses also. Coincidence? I think not. It's a case of blind sheep bowing down and not only kissing Prince's ass, but going further and tossing his salad.

Yeah, but that's the only track on the entire album that is. And apparently Miss Prince must be getting old because after he did that jam, he slowed everything else down to midtempo so his old ass could sit down and rest awhile. I guess Miss Thang's feet got to hurting in those orthapedic flip flops he's been sporting lately. Give him some Geritol and maybe he'll pick the pace back up with the next album. lol

Prince done got him something that he ain't had since the 1980s....somebody in the mainstream that can actually jam and give him competition. And somebody half his age too. Hell yeah, hype that shit up and make that bitch jealous and spark that creative jamming competititive side in him again so we'll get a much better album next time. We desperately need some hardcore ass shakin' funk from Prince and he ain't had nobody funky to compete with. Funk done got so scarce in the mainstream, the poor thang done resorted to selling out, slumming, and trying to compete with the shit hoppers. lol

Yeah, this song. Sure, it ain't Rick James, The Barkays, Cameo, Lakeside, or Zapp themselves but it sure as hell sounds better than anything else in the mainstream these days. And the fact that it's funk to begin with, and without the Fisher Price ship hop elements mixed into it to water it down, in this day and age of shit hop, earns him majors points alone with me.

.

Sounds damn good to my ears but even if it sounded only half as good, I'd still praise him for at least being a major mainstream artist at least attempting to make a funk jam that hasn't been watered down with shit hop in this shit hop infested world we live in today. And especially considering that he's young and has been born into a shit hop world from day one and most people his age, that's all they know because that's all that's ever been in style in their entire lifetime. Hell, to even be interested in the funk at that age is to be applauded.

Interesting. I dig Ronson's work but I find this joint lacking in every way.

I had heard his name and seen his pictures all over the place and had never heard any of his music because I don't listen to stations that play current mainstream music. A facebook friend of mine hipped me to "Treasure" which I reluctantly clicked on the video and listened and I heard a disco-ish type flavor to it which I loved. I then searched youtube for some more of his stuff. I didn't care for most of it but I did like another track called "Locked Out Of Heaven" which I liked because it reminded me of kinda of "Roxanne" by The Police. So the reason I even clicked to listen on this latest song is because I was very pleased with "Treasure" earlier and am even more pleased with this latest one since it's funk. I mean, hell, funk and disco, those are two genres that should have never gone out of style and should be every artist's goal of sounding like. lol

.

Another friend had hipped me to Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" and I loved it and searched and found "Lose Yourself To Dance" and loved it even more than "Get Lucky"....but then again, there's Nile Rodgers on there so naturally there was a chance of it being good. And another friend hipped me to a track called "Lovers In Bloom" from a young white guy from Australia named Harts and I loved it too.

.

Other than that, that's about all that's fairly new that I like other than the song "The Gold Standard" from Prince. So you see what my taste is and that there's practically nothing on the radio these days that pleases my taste. So yeah, I'm not hungry, but starving for some new jams.

The evolution of Uptown FUnk can be traced back to his live performance of Money Make Her Smile which he did on his tour last year. Check out Bruno getting his funk on!

Simply decent. It's too stripped down. It needs some drums or something to give it some punch.
