It's the Jacksons groove, which goes back to 1977's Different Kind of Lady, or if not there we can start in 78 with Shake Your Body and Things I Do For You.
77 Different Kind of Lady
78 Shake Your Body (Donw To The Ground)
78 Things I Do For You
79 Don't Stop Til You Get Enough
80 Lovely One
82 Wanna Be Startin' Something
84 Body
84 All My Love For You
86 (Let Your Love Find) The Chosen One
86 Another Part of Me
87 Another Part of Me
Agree with this. I HATED the Victory lp except for Torture and Body beacuse those were the ONLY two songs on there that sounded like The Jacksons. Body is not a rip off of WBSS no more than Torture is a ripoff of of Heartbreak Hotel.

I think Marlon has a fine singing voice. It may not be as strong or melodic as Michael or Jermaine's voice, but he can carry a tune and has a pretty decent voice imo. I think he did a pretty good job on "Body Language" as the co-lead singer.

That's Jermaine's voice on that audio.
But as far as the old Motown days Marlon had a line or two on Corner Of The Sky and Hum Along and Dance. And a few lines on some Jackson tracks...his voice is OK, just not lead voice material.

LaToya Jackson did a disservice to herself by releasing albums, period she really should have went to college and became a lawyer or something.
But wasn't that Janet's original plan? I know this causes shit storms on the org but Janet always got a pass by being the cute little sister. After Thriller she followed MJs pop blueprint, found her niche, and rode it til the wheel fell off. Good for her.

None of them had great voices except for Mike and Jermaine. I mean, in it's most basic form, imagine it's the SuperBowl Sunday. You need a Jackson sibling to sing the Star-Bangled Banner before kick-off. Who you gonna call?

I have the Janet tune just put For You instead of To You. Jermaine track I didn't add because he wasn't in the group at the time and Say You Do isn't written or produced by a brother.
D'oh, I forgot that Different Kind of Lady was written by the group, so I thought every song by a Jackson with that 'feel' counted.
Al Capone gives me that kind of vibe as well... it has the same really frenetic feel, like DSTGYE turned into late '80s video game music.

Wait, that's Jermaine's voice? But wasnt this recorded after he broke away from the group?
*Ok I checked Wikipedia, and looks like this was recorded when they were still the Jackson 5, not the Jacksons. Did not realize that was Jermaine's vocals on Body Language!

I think that's Marlon singing.....cant believe I'm coming out of lurk mode to defend Marlon. lol
Ya'll leave Marlon alone. He was alright. He just had that soft Jackson voice. Tito was the one that couldn't sing or dance for shit.

See I thought that was Marlon singing! I think he has a decent voice. Is there any way we can find out if it was him or Jermaine singing on Body Language? Anybody got any linear notes?

Thanks NaughtyKitty
don't worry about all the static Marlon
most of the world don't know u worked with MJ in coming up w/the Jacksons' dance routines for the Triumph Tour which is the best tour MJ ever did.......
and they don't know u even fill in vocally on nights during the tour where MJ's voice was sour.........
and that u had the #1 r&b song in the country during the fall of 1987.......

Hey Scorp! Thanks! I like Marlon, I think he is underrated in the group.
I remember when Rebbie came out with "Centipede" and everyone was really impressed with her vocals...only to find out later that Martha Wash was used on the record to 'pump up' the vocals. That's Martha you hear wailing in the final chorus.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
