IA that it's not that deep, which is why the resurgence of this thread and the not-so-backhanded cynicism levied at Watley is...odd. If she doesn't want to do a Shalamar reunion, or is only willing to consider it on her own terms, then so what? Why should she have to humble herself to participate in some entity that didn't respect her talent, played favorites, subjected her to the worse kind of industry sexism and basically smacked her like a dog? Look, Shalamar was clearly a bad experience for Jody. She has a sordid past with the other two members, and time clearly hasn't resolved all (or even most of) the angst. No one is going to walk back into a situation like that without some kind of perk that benefits them or at least protects them from having to endure a rehash of the BS from before...especially if it's a situation that they don't particularly NEED. Who knows what the behind-the-scenes squabbling is that's keeping Jody from agreeing to reunite with Shalamar, but I strongly suspect that most of it is probably because everyone else involved wants to rehash the old 1981 set up that basically favors Howard and would return her to being his lackey. And if Jody continues to talk about Shalamar, then my guess is that it's because people continue to bring it up to her. Meanwhile every decade or so, Howard and Jeffrey get in the media and attempt to instigate buzz for a possible reunion that tries to coax Jody to return and vilifies her should she say no for whatever reason. That's not how you negotiate with someone you have a dark past with in hopes that they'll let it go and be willing to move forward. Everyone who started with a group and later went on to have solo success wants the name they made for themselves on their own, and their accomplishments, to be acknowledged. That's especially true if the break up was contentious. Things can't go back to being exactly the same as they were before. No one wants to regress. Do you think Bobby Brown would rejoin New Edition if he couldn't command a bigger piece of the spotlight, get up on stage and sing "My Prerogative" and "Every Little Step" at some point during the show and have his solo accomplishments be acknowledged as part of the program? Is Ice Cube going to rejoin NWA without the architecture of said reunion recognizing his star and treating him accordingly? The answer is no. It's the reason Mary Wilson won't rejoin the Supremes with Diana. You used me then, so I'm using you now. Take it or leave it. It's the same for Jody. If they're not willing to compromise a little, and if she (like some here are trying to insinuate) is so expendable, then grab a replacement and go at it as a new Shalamar. But my guess is that they don't wanna do that because they know that the most famous lineup, which includes her, is the most attractive to fans/promoters and would be the more profitable. Jody knows it too! biggrin Yeah, payback is a bitch, ain't it? Let this be a lesson for how you treat the people you're working with.

Jody, is that you? neutral neutral lol wink

I ressurected the thread. I was on here having not been here for a long time and when I saw her post I could not BELIEVE what I was reading. Some if it to me is shocking. But I suppose some of the comments here will certainly bruise her ego.

If you don't want people to comment on your 'comment's' Jody, cause I suspect you are reading this thread, then you shouldn't post it all over the internet. It's social media! Everyone has an opinion. There is nothing 'odd' about having opinions. I accept them for or against. But to label people's opinions as odd just because they disagree with her original 'opinion', I find actually 'odd'.

ALL OF THEM keep bringing it up? Really? Jeffrey and Howard were being interviewed about Shalamar! But I don't recall in the Unsung interview that they asked for a reunion. I cannot recall them going onto any social media format saying that an original line up of the group was being reunited. In fact, I can't find anything with them saying it. But Jody keeps going on about it. First it was she wouldn't do it. Now it's 'maybe'. People change their minds. To me, that would be a sign of growth in some way.

Howard was the lead singer tho. His voice is what made some of those hits. Like it or not. And you could see his big 'ego' in some of those old interviews. But I don't recall anyone being anyone's 'lackey'. That is your (I mean her) perception. They each had their following and fans. Jody mostly had the gay guys who wanted to look like her (i.e Jermaine) and from what I know, Jeffrey had all that and in between. Howard was a mess too.

You say, if Jody doesn't want to reunite then so what? Well that would be OK, except she keeps attempting to, and not only that, but she then trashes everyone involved, and this time, including the network who offered the opportunity. eek. If she really doesn't want to do it, then she can shut up, sit down, do her own thing, write it out in a book for a cathartic moment, and have a cocktail. tinkerbell Life's too good to be stressing out like that.

Yep, it would be smile

But the only way I can see that happening is if a mediator is involved. And I think Iyanla is booked. lol

Oh Lord. I see from Jody's Facebook page she about to attempt to copy Beyonce.

She is now advertising for dancers with no criminal record lol lol lol And even asking for someone with a 'mad afro'. Basically, she's describing the Beyonce dancers Les Twins.

She posted a picture of a guy similar to Beyonce's very talented dancers Les Twins. If you don't know about them, check them out. They are amazing. EVERYBODY knows that Les Twins brought back the afro in a big way.

Where has all originality gone? First Tamar. Now this. Innovator?????? I don't think so!!!!

She starting to get on my god damned nerves now. And before anyone says, well don't look or read, its like watching a train wreck. It's hard to look away from the total craziness of this now. eek eek

Oh and by the way that guy Howard Hewitt who was in the background for Shalamar lol and can't make any money without Jody is actually coming to my city in October as part of a music

festival. He actually makes a stop here once a year and tours regularly as a solo act. I take it

that Howard and Jeffrey do the Shalamar thing on occasion not just to capture nostalgia but because they actually enjoy dong it.

Don't laugh at my funk

Well, only in the sense of how she utilises those twins. But we all know she claims to be 'inspired'. But even the twin thing has been done before. Tina Turner used female twins. But Les Twins are unique to say the least.

Nobody fucking with her at the moment, no matter how 'plagiarised' (if thats a word smile ) she is. She seems to be the 'go to' at the moment. And the male artists are trying to copy the twins.
