While there's nothing wrong with using ghostwriters in rap (Diddy, Dre anyone?), I can totally get behind the point Nicki was making during her speech. Also, sometimes it's good to have a little bit of beef going, a little bit of competition between Nicki and Iggy keeps both of them on their toes. All this 'We all bros' vibe that's going on in rap today is kind of snooze-worthy. When someone makes a record that matters, it just heats things up and keeps it interesting when someone else takes a couple shots at it.

.

This was Nicki's victory speech, she came in first place before Iggy, so she earned the right to be conceited about it. No need for an 'aww, but all the other nominees were really awesome too!' speech.

But on the awards show stage? Eh. Maybe. I guess.

I did learn recently that DaVinci and Michealangelo had beef throughout their careers. So if it's good enough for them...

Any other beef seems to pale in comparison.

Really Dude?? for a misspell name. Everybody makes mistake. Calm down.

I'm not a big fan of the BET awards show but i agree this isn't that

serious. I'm quite sure it was an honest mistake. I can see how someone

can mistake spelling Richie as Ritchie as the two are similar in pronunciation. I'm quite sure Mr. Richie himself didn't have a bitch fit

over this.

If it was printed on the award wrong then it is a big deal and they need to reissue the award with the correct spelling.

Or maybe its generational. Younger people don't care much about anything, whereas we slightly older folk seem like fogies because we come from a different time when the misspelling (not mispronouncing) of someone's name during a lifetime achievement award really does seem like a big deal.

Well this was all to blow up twitter and facebook etc...just like Beyonce changing lyrics etc... Sorry to say this but Nicki is now the "Old lady" just like Lil Kim was, she has stepped into that place. Today you are over and done and old news really quick and if you really arent groundbreaking musically which niether are, then you have to resort to gimmicks, and beefs and stunts, old news.

The BET Awards was decent this year and better than last year...But somebody needs to have a meeting and come up with better award Categories...How are you gonna nominate a Movie Actress & a TV actress in the same category when both offer different bodies of work? A TV actress can do 13 to 26 episodes in 9months VS a Movie Star doing one 90-min movie....You have to separate the fields of work....How many BET awards do they give out anyways, about 10?...Come on BET, go ahead and fork out some more cash to make some more awards and EXPAND the individual award categories so it makes sense....Whoever put the award categories together put it together as if it were an "after-thought"..."Well it's about the Hip-Hop artists performing Live anyways, Fuck the award categories."

As for the misspelling of names, The Soul Train Awards fucked up names in the 90's....Some say It's a small issue but it's really a BIG problem.....Come on Black folks and get it together...Damn somebody is writing the script for the awards, find somebody that can spell and double-check their Shit...It's almost like we're pretending to be Classy but we know the Ghetto still Lives in us...We can do better...

Exactly my point, the spelling of someones name is important, its not generational how stupid is that comment, what one generation can spell and one cant so you get a pass? Im talking about what you mention here and that is who the hell is checking this shit, yeah it seems minor, but it also shows laziness, look it up for god sakes.

I was referring to the posters on here and whatnot, not the fact checker that was obviously to lazy to look at an old album cover to check the spelling. But my generational statement still has merit I believe. From time to time we'll get into this debate over whether sampling is as creative as writing and playing a song from scratch. Younger posters will swear up and down that sampling an existing track is just as creative as writing a song from scratch, and nothing will convince them otherwise.

Last----your post proves that common sense does still exist smile So many naive people can't figure out what a publicity stunt is. Beyonce is predictable and needs to retire for a while but as long as there are sheeple who want to hear her "change the lyrics to confront her cheating husband" the lunacy will never end.

As far as Nicki goes, she would have been better off staying on the hip-hop track, instead of doing the old "cross over into pop" because it's usually a career killer!

Trolls be gone!

Please people dogged John Travolta for his total butchering of a name, and dont give me this nonsense if this was Stevie Wonder spelled Stevee Wonder, or if instead of Prince they would have had Prance, people would have been on the phone for this shit. You cant get these things wrong, it shows that this show is probably produced by someone that has no idea who Lionel Richie is.

I agree. I think there is no excuse for an award show to misspell a name on an award especially a lifetime achievement award at that. They had plenty of time to prep in advance if they did not know how to spell his name or to make corrections. There really is no excuse and shows lack of professionalism. These award shows don't see these type errors as "important". Nobody is held accountable when these careless errors occur which is why they reoccur. I think its disrespectful.
