Harts (New Prince Recommended Artist)

Prince just tweeted this guy earlier today... I love his sound.

I heard two other of his songs, one from 2012 and the other from 2013 and they all have an 80's pop/R&B vibe to them..

Change it one more time..

This artist is soo freaking amazing...he reminds me so much of Ps music style and his influence is surely stamped in Harts songs. We need more kids like this. Young, talented, and self made. It also kind of makes me sad that we have so many no talent artist out here topping charts with crappy songs and worn out beats but kids like Harts get little or no recognition. This kid still releases his music on VINYL. How awesome is that? True talent. Im rooting for you Harts!

He plays the heck out of that guitar. Beside that, he doesn't move me.

One of his Facebook posts was about having met Prince recently, if I understood correctly. It sounded like Prince was the one that had wanted to meet him after a show or something like that.

"I never liked Larry. Always knew he was a bitch ass!! Look how he ruined Prince. He knew you were going to embarrass him I am sure. To me Larry is overrated. Victor Wooten said it the best, "Larry Graham is the king of simplicity, he plays the hell out of one note". Harts would have eaten him for lunch!!

"Be sure there comes a day where Larry regrets by refusing the honour you offered him. Keep up the Funk Man."

"You are just as talented as Prince."

Heard this guy's music and it's good but his fans are fangirling too damn much. So Larry Graham, a soul and funk music legend, Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer, a cornerstone architect for the most ubiquitous bass playing technique in Western music, was suppose to give this guy the red carpet treatment to come on stage and jam with him? Hart's fan's comments on his Facebook page is textbook delusional fandom.

And as far as Hart being just as talented as Prince, when you do have the things Prince has accomplished then get back to me.

Agreed.

Bought 2 of his songs after listening to the vids posted in this thread. The start-up of 'Leave it All Behind' Extended sounded alot like The Time/Prince's 'The Walk' and the guitar work was brilliantly placed. 'Lovers in Bloom' is catchy and shows versatility but it's way too early to be comparing this young man to Prince, in any way, shape or form.

Thanks to the OP for the introduction to Harts, the 2 songs were a welcome purchase.

You're dissing Harts because of some comments made by some of his fans on FB? How stupid is that. Following that argument to its logical conclusion, Prince is shit.

I kind of like that Lovers in Bloom track but on Purple Haze his voice sounds like Lenny Kravitz. That is not a good thing, IMO.

Skills for sure, though.

Anyone notice that Harts is at Paisely Park?

From:

http://blog.thecurrent.org/2014/06/prince-and-3rdeyegirl-share-new-music-at-late-night-paisley-park-rendezvous/

"By this time a band had started up—a young guitarist named Darren Harts, plus three of Prince’s session players, who had formed something of a house band behind him. “He’s from Australia,” Prince said, pointing to Darren. “He doesn’t have any real musicians he can play with back home. Isn’t that weird? So I invited him here.”

“That’s nice of you,” I said.

“He reminds me of how I was at that age,” he said, obviously impressed with Darren’s guitar abilities. “I want him to have the opportunity to play with real musicians.”

Very nice! Prince flew him to Paisley Park and he got to jam with P and 3EG. He said Prince gave him a lot of advice about music, stage presences, etc.

I really like "Lovers in Bloom" and am going to listen to more stuff from him. He lists Prince as an influence and you can certainly hear that on "Lovers in Bloom".

Definitely has skills, I agree. He sounds so dated in his music. He really isn't bringing anything new to the table except that he can play geetur.. This music sounds like the 80s...been there done that. I am very surprised that Prince liked this particular sound. No shade, but Harts need to be unique. Amy Winehouse was unique. Prince is unique. Sinatra was unique for his time. Sammy Davis, Sly Stone, Aretha, The Beach Boys, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Kline, James Brown were inventors. I don't know who this guy is yet....

So Amy was unique because she imitated Ronnets and Hearts is not unique because he does MPLSound?

I think, Prince hears himself in this male singer. That could be, partially, why he likes him. Not saying, it's a bad thing at all. I'm just saying.
