Report : Apple to purchase beats by Dre for $3,000,000,000!

http://m.tmz.com/#Article...o-appleDr. Dre could be days away from being the first rapper turned BILLIONAIRE ... thanks to a mega-deal for Apple to snatch up his Beats Electronics brand.

Apple will reportedly buy Beats for a whopping $3.2 BILLION -- and since Dre and Interscope honcho Jimmy Iovine created the brand ... it's a safe bet they will walk away with a huge chunk of that cash.

Dre and Jimmy created the brand back in 2008 with headphones -- but now they're also making bank off speakers, car audio systems, and a streaming service.

The deal could close next week ... and would be Apple's biggest acquisition ever.

Dre came in #2 on Forbes' most recent list of hip hop's wealthiest artists -- with a net worth of $550 million ... while Diddy was #1 at $700 million.

The Apple deal -- first reported by Variety -- could easily push the Doc to the top of that list. This would also explain his purchase of Tom Brady's mansion.

Keep their heads ringing.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Coroner: Dr. Dre's Son Died From Overdose of Heroin and Morphine

http://www.people.com/peo...63,00.html

01/02/2009 at 03:05 PM EST

Andre Young Jr.

Dr. Dre's son, Andre Young Jr., died from an overdose of heroin and morphine, the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner confirmed to PEOPLE on Friday.

"This case has been closed, it's been ruled an accident due to morphine and heroin intoxication," coroner spokesman Larry Dietz told PEOPLE. The drug test results had been pending for four months.

Young, 20, was found unresponsive by his mother, Jenita Porter, 40, in their Woodland Hills, Calif., home on the morning of Aug. 23.

Paramedics pronounced Young – who was remembered by friends as an optimistic young man – dead at the scene.

Porter told investigators that her son had been out with friends that night, and she recalled hearing him snoring around 5:30 a.m.

"Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son," the rapper's publicist Lori Earl previously said in a statement. "Please respect his family's grief and privacy at this time."

Why I'm sure 3 billion can't make Dre happy.

There was a report a few weeks ago done by some sound company that basically tested every brand of headphones for sound quality. The brands were graded from 0-100%, Ironically popular brands like BEATS, ipod(apple headphones), Skull Kandy all pretty much were ranked bottom of the barrel, below 60% in the quality of sound department.

When did this guy last produce a great album?

He's nothin' but a businessman now. Lost touch and his touch. This news is BORING!

Maybe not put alot of his own stuff out, but his production is all over rap music, he's put off Detox for years because he kept giving the beats he produced to other rappers, he's a great producer.

.

But I feel when/if he eventually puts out Detox it will be a let down, which is maybe why he hasnt already

Both companies have made their fortune through the aggressive marketing of overpriced, underperforming fashion accessories. They deserve each other.

Baffling why people would want to pay $100+ for a set of headphones just to listen to shit-hop, Rhianna and Beyonce.disbelief Trust me, they are still going to sound just as bad using a pair of $10 earbuds. Dre is laughing all the way to the bank!lol lol lol

I'll always remember him as a woman batterer. Both Michel'le and Dee Barnes know first hand. Now Michel'le is probably financially set thanks to her son with Dre, but what about Dee Barnes? When she sued him, somehow his lawyers got his fine down to $2500 and a lot of community service. I hope he's a changed man. He never apologized to Dee. If you read her twitter it's clear from her reaction to this news.

I first read about it years ago in an interview with Outburn magazine after Tairrie B went hardcore metal with her group My Ruin. I had a few of their albums.

The video he made with Tyrese a few weeks ago had me dying of laugher! LOL! Tyrese is a bit of a clown under it all smile Congrats to Dre. He's now up there with Oprah, Bill Gates, etc. I imagine that Jay-Z is sitting in a corner jealous of Dre's accomplishment. I think that's probably the reason he just fired his manager. He wants someone that will get him in the same circles as Dre. But, Jay-Z seems like he's not as savvy of a businessman as Dre. Either way, congrats to Dr. Dre.

Someone told me the other day that the Beat earbuds alone were $150! Are you kidding me!?!?! This guy is a marketing genius to pull that one off! smile I've heard conflicting reports about the sound quality in the headphones.

Yeah, this is true. Also - this album was one of the first albums to contain a production by my friend QD3, Quincy Jones son. I remember talking about it with him.
