Pharrell's Solo Album 'G I R L' discussion

Pharrell 'G I R L' album cover

Consider the globe Pharrell's entire happy place as he plans to conquer the game once more with his own solo release. After inking with Columbia Records last December, the Grammy Award-winning beatsmith announced that he would also drop a new album G I R L.

"When Columbia Records presented me with the opportunity to make an album, three things came to mind,” says Pharrell. “One was the sense of overwhelming honor that I felt when I realized that they were interested in partnering with me on the album that I had always dreamt of making. Two, it would have to feel festive and urgent. And three, I instantly knew it would be called G I R L. I hope you like it."

G I R L, which will feature the Oscar-nominated smash "Happy," will be available in stores March 3 and is currently being offered for pre-order on iTunes (sans tracklist)

When I attended the private screening of "DespicableMe 2" @ The BET Xperience last summer. I also attended a special conference with Pharrell. His positivity was intoxicating!! It changed my life forever. The muziq he did for that soundtrack was amazing! I knew "Happy" would become a big hit for him. The icing on the cake is his upcoming performance on The Oscars. I'm looking foward to preordering his new album and "happy" with his new deal. He is a positive force...

I really have high hopes for this one. He's in an even better place musically this time around than with the last album (even though "In My Mind" wasn't a bad album)

In my Mind was a very messy album, Dcent beats... meh lyrics... meh songs in general. I kind of wonder why In My head was so average! consediring how talented the dude is. He could have made a killer solo album. I feel this new one will make up for it wink

I hope it's better than his firts solo joint, (which wasn't bad.) It needs to be in one place, In My Mind was everywhere.

Pharrell is a very tiny man in person. But looks decades younger than his 40 years.....

Prince & Pharrell r the only musicians in the muziq industry that don't age! They haven't had any plastic surgery to look decades younger....Its in their genes....Don't hate!

Some say that tall people age faster and smaller people age slowlier. In my experience, from what I´ve seen (not just celebrities) this is true as long as one doesn´t deliberately wreck his health. Prince and Pharrell both live healthy lifestyles.

I bet having money helps a lot, too.

I like a lot of Pharrell´s music, including NERD and also his last solo albums (there were two versions of it, so it counts as two, right?).

But for some reason, I have always liked his work for and with other people a tad more than his solo material. I mean, I don´t even mind his singing voice even though most folks hate it but his lyrics and also the music for his own album were ok, but not as great as , say, Beautiful with Snoop Dogg or Drop It Like It´s Hot or other hits he wrote for others.

Still looking forward for this new album though.

And I like his overall positive attitude.

HATED his song with Robin Thicke though. Absolutely hate that song with a passion.

Next up is the first featured collaboration, a duet with Justin Timberlake. ‘Brand New’ is pure Off The Wall Michael Jackson at the peak of his disco funk powers, with its carnal exhalations, falsetto harmonies and plucked bass notes that dance all over the fretboard before being carried away on rising horns and strings. Pharrell says the song “felt so urgent,” and it does, embodying the same surging breathlessness that both the King of Pop and JT brought to their best work.

Pharrell is a producer who seems to do better when working with other artists. His own songs imo have been wack. In my mind was grabage but after reading the track by track description, I'm very excited to hear this album and feel hopeful about it. I hope this record is hot!!
