I read that the song he produced for the new Kylie Minogue (due March 18) has a retro disco feel.

Pharrell is a producer who seems to do better when working with other artists. His own songs imo have been wack. In my mind was grabage but after reading the track by track description, I'm very excited to hear this album and feel hopeful about it. I hope this record is hot!!

For the folks dissing In My Mind - have you heard Out Of My Mind, a "bootleg" done by Questlove and James Poyser etc.? They just took Pharrell's vocal and re-did all the backgrounds with real instruments. Some of the tracks have a really nice jazzy MJ Off The Wall kind of vibe.

I think we can safely say he is on his way to legendary status. His influence over the music scene the past 10+ years have been outstanding.

I'm happy for him that he is reaching new heights.

I would say it's closer to at least 15 years now, he was producing some smashes in the early 00's already (even earlier?). He was gone for a while, but last summer was quite a strong comeback..."Get Lucky", "Blurred Lines" and then "Happy". All #1, correct?

"Lookin At Me" by MA$E and "Superthug" by Noreaga were hit singles in 1998. The Neptunes had work before that. I first noticed them on SWV's 1996 album, but they were album tracks.

So far,"Gust Of Wind" seems to be my favorite music The album sounds good.Retro-sounding,which is what you expect from Pharrell.I'm buying this.

Just finished the sampler @ itunes. I like the horn stabs/bass syncopation and energy of "Brand New" Justin adds nothing for me but then again its only 1:30.

-

"Gush" reminds me of his work on Snoop's "Let's Get Blown". Still cool nonetheless.

-

I like the track on "Know Who You Are".

-

But the stand out song and the one I'm looking forward to hearing the most is, "Gust of Wind." Is that Daft Punk on the chorus?

Manufactured controversy. So predictable. I was wondering when someone would react to the glaring '' lack of diversity'' depicted on the cover. Yawn.

who's digging the track with Justin Timberlake,"Brand New"? It's a good song.If Michael Jackson was still alive, this would be a perfect comeback single for him.

I love the song "Freq" music I guess this is the closest thing to a slow jam on this album.Interestingly,on the CD,it is a hidden interlude and not listed with the other songs.

Pharrell Williams' "Happy" Tops The Billboard Hot 100

BRAND NEW ALBUM "G I R L" AVAILABLE THIS COMING MONDAY, MARCH 3
PRE-ORDER AND STREAM "G I R L" TODAY AT iTUNES

The New York Times, which calls Pharrell "one of the most transformative music figures of the last year," describes G I R L as "an overwhelmingly positive album, cheery in mood and instrumentation, as if Mr. Williams knows something the rest of us do not." USA Today echoes, saying Pharrell "cranks out tunes that are as giddily accessible as they are texturally sophisticated...Williams' ebullient musical savvy is everywhere." And in its track-by-track review, Billboard says G I R L is "a relentlessly positive and unselfconsciously joyful tour de force."

"Happy" is Pharrell's first Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit as a lead artist, though he is no stranger to the chart. Previous chart-topping tracks Pharrell has been featured on include Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot," Ludacris' "Money Maker," and most recently, Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" (also featuring T.I.). With 402,000 downloads of "Happy" sold this past week, the sum marks the largest sales week for a song outside the Christmas season since Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" last September. "Happy" is also the Hot 100's top Airplay Gainer for the fifth week in a row, as well as top Digital Gainer for the third consecutive week.

Currently #1 on iTunes' Songs chart in the U.S., the song has topped the chart in more than 75 countries, selling nearly 4 million downloads worldwide. With more than 152 million in audience, the song is currently charting at seven U.S. radio formats—Top 40, Rhythm, AC, Hot AC, Urban, Urban AC, and AAA. Around the world, "Happy" tops radio charts in 14 countries including Australia, France, Germany, U.K., Belgium, Denmark, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Switzerland, and Poland.

I heard "Happy" for the first time yesterday on The Steve Harvey Radio show. I liked it from the jump. It has that Bobby Mcferrin vibe to it. And I'm sick of Hip/Hop artists Sucking on Justin Timberlake's Dick. He doesn't need a guest appearance on their Albums...Justin is Talented but does NOT deserve to be crowned Hip-Hop's "IT" man...

Like I said yesterday, I like the energy behind the song. Good dance tune. You're right, I couldn't help but think about Mike on this one. Seems like Pharrell's singing filter is Michael Joseph Jackson, if you know what I mean lol

I wouldn't doubt that a folder of MJ inspired productions (that he dips into every now and then)exist on his hard drives lol

Regarding aging gracefully, the soon to be 74-year-old Herbie Hancock beats them both.
