No probs dude, its all good! biggrin

Here's to the new album...I enjoy the build-up and rumours almost as much release itself. What's your hopes for the album??

As it turns out, I'm the one stuck in the past. I want another Bedtime Stories. lol

We could do alot worse than that!!....I really like that album, a great summertime feel. I always stick it on when the good weather gets here, Survival and Inside Of Me are great cruising songs.

Well, she is hashtagging "rebelheart" on every post, even if it is not related to the forthcoming era. So, it's the title of something.

Great point! I'm really up for an M music project that's a bit out there and different...

I have to admit, her concerts were so much more enjoyable when Nikki and Donna were a part of the show.Remember the Girlie Show, when the three of them sat down and performed "Rain"? That performance was nice!! These days, the backup singers on Madonna's tours are hidden...you don't even see them! They're never really part of the show. That's kinda disappointing.

I love Nikki and Donna. They seem like great people. But for some reason, I don't miss backing singers being upfront. I like either the dancers or the focus on Madonna when she does solo ballad things.

I'm tired of all the dancers boxed I kinda wish she would do a more stripped down show, next time around.Maybe have just 4 dancers (2 male,2 female) and focus more on the MUSIC,THE BAND and the BACKUP SINGERS.But I know I'm in the minority, lol.

Actually,I agree but dont think it would happen as it might be too raw for Madonna - we may see her vocals are not that great now - as much as I have loved her over the years, the last tour was a fail in My opinion......

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

The last tour to me was one of her all time best. Sticky and Sweet before it was a fail for me. I love her tours where it's darker and more innovative, rather than fun and just sing the songs fans want. Madonna's voice is still really good to me. You either like her voice or you don't. She's not an Adele type. Her voice actually pretty much has the same tone as when she was younger. It hasn't changed too much. In general I"m not a fan of the huge use of backing singers even on records. I don't like songs where you hear all these other singers instead of the main artist. A lot of times backing singers do the screamy gospel like singing that so many people seem to love, but it bores me. Now if you have backing singers whose voices blend into the main singer better than that's okay. I think whether she does a stripped down show would depend on the type of album she releases. It might work if she did a different type of music, but I don't think it would work with a dance album. But she does have parts of her tours where it's not the whole crew but just her and one other dancer like the Like A Virgin/Love Spent. So she can combine the two. She can have some parts where it's the whole group of dancers and other parts where it's more stripped down. That would be the best of both worlds.

It's ironic that you are in a forum that is dedicated to a musician that is in his 50's who has been seen (and still seen by many) as using 'shock' value to promote his music...but Prince is male, so it's fine and none of his past songs or antics are used against him now. Again, you do seemed to get 'jacked up' or you wouldn't have posted in the thread or used up energy in doing so...c'mon, admit it...you love her! wink

Both Madonna and U2 have albums planned for late this year and we hear that Universal is considering releasing them as a “surprise,” just as Beyonce did in 2013. Our source from Universal says it’s a lot more likely to happen with U2 than it is with Madonna. However, Universal is looking for ways to market Madonna’s next album, under the working title of Rebel Heart, in different ways.

“So far, Universal is incredibly pleased with what has been presented by Madonna. This is not another MDNA with generic EDM songs. She is not straying away from her dance roots, but is giving the music a little “folk” twist,” our source says. However, Universal has some concerns. “It happened with Madonna and MDNA. It happened with Lady Gaga and ARTPOP. It happened with Britney Spears and her latest release. People are out to destroy the album before it even comes out. We liked the way Beyonce worked around that and hopefully, we’ll come up with something different for Madonna as well,” our source continues.

U2 haven’t released an album since No Line on the Horizon and the reception wasn’t too great. However, given the success of U2′s most recent tour, none of that mattered. But our source says they still want to market U2 in different ways as well. U2 doesn’t face the same automatic backlash that Madonna does, but there are still people who want them to fail.

soul alive: a) who are you on MNation and b) didn't MadonnaNation say the above was 'false?' i don't know it sounds pretty real to me...

if she is doing the folktronica / dance thing, does this mean we are doing "Music" all over again? I have felt that's where this era may be heading since her performance and vocals at the Grammys, her miley duet and outfit and song ("Dont Tell Me,") ... it's funny, it's almost as if MDNA was an attempt to relive the 3 most cutting edge/popular among fans/critics albums of her glory days
(Ray of Light, Like A Prayer & Erotica) then this era already feels like "Music" and "American Life."

I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Rebecca Walker used to be with Madonna's former colleague/Maverick artist Me'shell Ndegeocello. Madonna's brother in law Joe Henry produced Ndegeocello's album "Weather".

.

Last I heard Me'shell was not on speaking terms with Madonna or Walker. Weird.

.

My fanboy wet dream would be a rock/pop acoustic Madonna album produced by Henry with a strong presence from Me'shell. Been waiting since "Guilty By Association", probably will die waiting.

This is insane: Madonna is going to direct another movie. Why? Cronyism. There’s no other explanation. Her “W.E.” was one of the great embarrassments in movie history. If you saw that piece of whatever, you remember the Duchess of Windsor dancing to punk music in front of the Duke’s death bed.

Now Madonna will direct a movie based on a novel by Rebecca Walker, the daughter of “Color Purple” author Alice Walker. Madonna will bring all her subtlety to the story of “Ade,” described on amazon thusly:

“When Farida, a sophisticated college student, falls in love with Adé, a young Swahili man living on an idyllic island off the coast of Kenya, the two plan to marry and envision a simple life together—free of worldly possessions and concerns. But when Farida contracts malaria and finds herself caught in the middle of a civil war, reality crashes in around them. The lovers’ solitude is interrupted by a world in the throes of massive upheaval that threatens to tear them apart, along with all they cherish.”

I mean, under Madonna’s eye, hilarity will ensue. What’s the deal here? First Anna Wintour puts Kanye and the wife on the cover of Vogue, now this. The general public must hear these things and wonder if everyone’s gone mad.

And it’s not just that Madonna can’t act and can’t direct. Financially, why would anyone get involved in this? Her last movie cost over $15 million. It made only $582,075 in the US and $285,000 abroad. Even the Brits didn’t want to see it. And this new movie is set in Africa, setting for Madonna’s hilariously stupid documentary “I Am Because We Are.”

Blame it on the Polar Vortex, I guess!

Take a chill pill. If you don't like her movies she directs don't go to see them. But if it's something she enjoys why shouldn't she follow her dreams? Madonna's extremely wealthy. She can partially finance her own movies whether they do well or not. Nothing to do with cronyism because as you said she's not on great terms with Me'Shell. Joe Henry is a very accomplished producer in his own right. A lot of people want to work with him based on his accomplishments and talent, some not even knowing and definitely not caring he's related to Madonna. Maybe she just read the book and liked it, not even realizing the connection. I could see how the themes of it would interest her. And I don't see how anyone could find I am Because We Are stupid, which wasn't directed by her. It actually was very moving and addressed a lot of important issues of poverty in Africa.

And personally I didn't see the big deal about Kim and Kayne on the cover of Vogue either. It's a superficial fashion magazine so why shouldn't it have superficial but attractive famous people on it?

As far as her doing a rock/pop/acoustic record even though I generally like that type of music, I don't really want one from Madonna. I don't think it suits her voice or her style. Maybe a couple of songs written with Joe Henry which could be reworked by a producer into something more her style.

Directing movies is simply something that Madonna wants to do.Why shouldn't she follow her dreams? It's her passion, let her indulge in it.But having said that,I do wish she would direct something a little more "fun",as opposed to a dramatic love story set in another country.Been there, done that.

As Madonna gets older,I think directing is gonna become her main focus. She's not gonna wanna continue prancing around on stages every night.

I agree! I think Madonna has a great sense of humor which a lot of people don't appreciate. I think it would be great if she chose something to direct that had more a comedic element or even dark humor to it, instead of these romantic dramas.

I think she will continue directing, but I think she will also continue performing and doing tours even if it doesn't involve as much dancing.
