First time on CD for O'Bryan "Be My Lover". But, it's courtesy of Vinyl Masterpiece and they usually do vinyl rips. And since Capital Records is part of Universal music group, this will probably be a vinyl rip. But, the samples don't sound too bad. I want this really bad but I don't know.

Bobby Charles Bobby Charles Original Release Date: January 01, 1972 Available: February 18, 2014 . Bobby Charles pioneered the musical genre known as ‘swamp rock’ – he wrote the early rock n roll classic “See You Later, Alligator” (best known via the version by Bill Haley & the Comets). Arranged and conducted by Marty Gold, it was well received by the music press with Billboard Music Week of February 1962 rating it with four stars. 1968 was a time of soul searching for hit making British Rock band THE WHO. With three badly performing singles behind them they needed a big new idea to put them back at the top and crucially to hold them together as a band. Pete Townshend’s bad experiences with LSD and his questioning of the cult of celebrity lead him to seek answers. He looked for spiritual inspiration from Indian Spiritual Master Meher Baba who had kept a vow of silence since 1925. Baba’s message of love was simple, but the deeper message of discovering reality through different states of consciousness without relying on our natural senses, inspired Pete to create the character of Tommy, the “deaf, dumb and blind boy”. . Again inspired by Baba, Pete gave his creation extraordinary powers as a Pinball Wizard who soon gathered around him a band of loyal devotees. On March 18, the Dukes of September Rhythm Revue, a supergroup consisting of Donald Fagen, Boz Scaggs and five-time Grammy winner Michael McDonald, will put out a Blu-ray/DVD of a concert recorded in Nov. 2012. . The release of ‘The Dukes of September Live’ will coincide with the March 13 airing of the show, which was filmed at New York’s Lincoln Center, on PBS’ ‘Great Performances.’ The songs touch on hits from the catalogs of all three men — including ‘Hey Nineteen,’ ‘What a Fool Believes’ and ‘Lido Shuffle’ — with some of choice covers of their favorite soul songs, such as Chuck Berry‘s ‘You Never Can Tell,’ Arthur Conley’s ‘Sweet Soul Music’ and the Isley Brothers’ ‘Who’s that Lady?’ . “I love revues like the Dukes,” Fagen said via press release. “Different singers, all kinds of surprises. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was the album that turned Elton John into a true superstar. Although he was already known in 1973 due to the growing success of his previous albums - including Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player, Elton John and Honky Chateau - it was the release of this double album that made Elton a household name, going on to sell a staggering 31-million copies. The album spent eight weeks at No.1 and went platinum seven times over in the U.S. It also contains Elton and co-writer Bernie Taupin’s most successful song, “Candle in the Wind”; a No.1 hit three times, in three different versions, in three successive decades, ultimately becoming the biggest-selling single of all time. Often referred to as the pinnacle of Elton and co-writer Bernie Taupin’s creative powers and commercial success, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was the eighth studio album the pair had released in a three-year period. But the recording of the album wasn't the smoothest of experiences. After initial attempts at recording in Kingston, Jamaica, were derailed by the double whammy of industrial action at the studio and further disruption was caused by a world boxing title fight in the town, Elton and the band returned to the familiar settings of Chateau d’Herouville. The album was completed in a staggering seventeen days (including mixing!) and the result is a body of work of huge ambition - kicking off with the grandiose, epic prog rock sound of “Funeral for a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding,” and effortlessly segueing between pop, hard rock, soul, and stunning heart-wrenching ballads.

The album artwork was also a giant leap forward creatively for Elton. Whereas earlier album artwork either didn’t feature Elton at all, or showed him as an earnest early 70’s songwriter, here he can been seen resplendent in sparkling platform boots, a satin bomber jacket and, of course, his soon-to-be trademark flamboyant eyewear. The sight of him stepping from an unglamorous normal street into a magical fantasy world is not only a metaphor for the transition he was going through as an artist but is one of the most defining images of early 1970’s rock music.

The early recordings made by Ahmad Jamal for the Epic label have disappeared into the annals of jazz history. His trio with bass and drums, however, was certainly a whole lot more famous in clubs, at festivals and on TV shows in the '50s. The present LP contains twelve numbers performed as a trio composed of a guitar and bass or drums – Ray Crawford, Eddie Calhoun, Walter Perkins only being known to a handful of jazz fans – and only a few compositions of his own, most titles are favorites from musicals of the day.

Ahmad Jamal reveals the influence of Art Tatum and Nat King Cole in his performances, whereby his masterly art and independent style is already recognizable. The trios are quite unique in themselves, although the hierarchy is unchangeable: Ahmad Jamal is and remains the boss; he performs the majority of the solos. A special highlight is surely the first version of "Billy Boy."
And not only Miles Davis praised the pianist for his technical prowess and wealth of ideas. "Aki And Ukthay" (Brother and Sister) also offers the possibility to admire Jamal’s pianistic proficiency. What a good idea to bring out these early recordings once more for jazz lovers. Especially because the Epic label is truly underestimated in the record market. The recording quality is absolutely impeccable – a true listener’s gem.

Perhaps the greatest crossover artist that ever was, it is impossible to overstate the impact that Ray Charles had on the evolution of both R&B and rock & roll. Charles' distinctive style transcended genres and influenced musicians from every musical background and from every corner of the globe, but it was during the mid-'50s that Charles really began to rule the R&B charts.

His legendary self-titled debut LP, originally released in 1957 on Atlantic (and later renamed Hallelujah! I Love Her So), was essentially a collection of those hit singles. In 1955 Ray had his first #1 hit, "I've Got A Woman," followed by his second and third No. 1 hits, "A Fool For You," and "Drown In My Own Tears," over just the next few months.

Almost all of the remaining tracks on the album were also Top Ten hits from that same period, including "Greenbacks," "Hallelujah I Love Her So" and "This Little Girl Of Mine." "Jump Around" is an impossibly infectious and catchy single. By now you'd be hard pressed to find a music fan of any genre not familiar with House of Pain or their smash hit. Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing "Donna Summer" as a CD reissue. I generally don't like straight reissues because they are not offerring any bonus tracks but if the sound is an improvement over the original pressing, I may buy a straight reissue if I think it's a superior enough album. I have all of Donna's 80's output on CD. Some of the discs were mastered at a low volume, especially "Cats Without Claws". I don't know if I would necessarily repurchase that particular title because the only song I love on that one is "Supernatural Love".
