Thats because its easy to chart and to get number ones on the Billboards today. I really dont care about Billboard or take them seriously because their criteria changes every year which makes what they are looking for confusing. Janet has more "entries" than Michael because she continued to make music and release singles while Michael semi retired from music. Michael's last real studio album was Invincible (2001) and he didnt release a real album in almost a decade. Janet continued to release three more albums and a few singles this past decade but none of those singles made the Top 10. Her last Hot 100 Top 10 was All 4 You (2001).

Doesn't take anything from their respective legacies, but by my count, MJ missed the Hot 100 at least 8 times between 1987 and 2001. Mariah is a little bit trickier, because her record label would manipulate the charts. If a single looked like it wouldn't be a top 10 (or even #1 hit), they would simply withold a physical release. Regardless, even during her early chart smashing days, "Anytime You Need a Friend" missed the top 10, as did later releases as "Bye Bye" and "Through the Rain".

Madonna can? And Janet sing better than SADE, she can hit low and high notes while Sade is snging the one same tone all the time and getting a recognition for that only because she don't dance, don't have fantastic videos and is not controversial.

But JANET will get the recognition she deserves, sooner or later. They still see her as a competitive artist, that's the problem.

Sade tends to go her own way and every video, concert, etc has the same feel. It may not be "good" but her presence and style is impeccable. A lot of Janet's videos and shows (after All For You) don't compare to the artistry that Sade did. Look at her lastest DVD of the Bring Me Home tour and tell me if the show was not better than either of Janet's last 2 tours. I love Janet, but the people she's worked with the last few years are sub par compared to Tina Landon or Anthony (who did Rhythm Nation).

MICHAEL JACKSON'S They Don't Crae About Us peaked at No. 30, Blood On The Dancefloor peaked at number 42, Stranger In Moscow peaked at 91, and so on.

This. There is no competition. The things she did in her career chart-wise and image-wise helped to set a precedent for the current crop of pop stars. She's not in competition with them--they look up to her.

Not sure about the entire reason, but I was also aware she spent more weeks on the Billboard charts overall, and that's why she's a singles artists. Though MJ had her beat with some numbers, his singles probably didn't stay on the charts as long cause he was considered more of an albums artists and the hits enabled people to go and buy his albums in mass quantities and they would listen to him that way while radio would move on to the next single and so would they.

Anyways, happy for her and wish she got more credit. I almost feel like younger people don't know her work and know michael's better and sometimes I wish she got her due and was not known for Superbowl.
