Okay, now that I just listened to "Sweet & Sexy Thing", I remember it. I haven't heard it since 1986 tho. biggrin No, it wasn't a strong song but we have all seen far worse songs sitting in the #1 spot on the Billboard Charts.

listening to the iTunes download that I just bought headbang Excellent sound quality!!! This is a really clear-sounding remaster.Previously, all I had was a vinyl copy of this album.

That's exactly what I was thinking, when I was listening. It was damn near pristine sounding.

I saw a bootleg of "Glow" on Ebay and Gemm a few years ago. They may still have it listed on Gemm. Not sure how the sound quality is. But, Motown never issued "Glow" on CD in the U.S. (I'm reading on amazon by a reviewer that there was a very rare Japanese CD pressing of it, which is news to me). "The Flag" could use a reissue, too. I believe that one was released on CD back in the day but pressed in small quantities. Why does Universal keep reissuing "Street Songs" but not "Glow" and "The Flag" for people who are interested in those titles????disbelief err

nod I have 'The Flag' on CD.I don't think it's one of Rick's best albums.

eek

Didn't ever think that would be available on cd lol

I like The Flag but of course it didn't mesure up to his previous

albums with the exception of Garden of Love which I thought

was his worst Motown album. I will take the Flag over Wonderful

which was mediocre.

I used to feel the same way about Garden Of Love.Couldn't understand why it was such a 'soft' album, coming from the king of punk funk lol But in recent years,I have grown to appreciate it a little more.Wonderful wasn't very good.

About time "Wonderful" was released, I don't think Rick really cared about having a career anymore. Really weak album and he was having a lot of personal issues at the time. I was surprised when "Lucy's Rap" did so well on the R&B charts (didn't it peak in the #1 spot?). Warner Brothers did very little to promote the album. It slays me when these label sign artists, knowing full well they have no intention on promoting them.disbelief

That could be said for the majority of records released. Literally thousands of albums are released each year. They all can't get on the radio or on TV. Labels also sometimes release records to fail on purpose for tax writeoffs or to hurt an act who rebels (by getting them in debt) or plans to leave the label.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

yeah,"Loosey's Rap" was a Number One R&B hit in 1988...his final big hit.His Warner contract didn't work out very well.A year later,he recorded another album,'Kickin',but the label rejected it and cancelled his contract. You can find some of the tracks on Youtube.

you can tell the KISS influence in this clip because rick is kinda dressed like gene simmons with his black outfit especially with the silver & black costume, those boots, and that silver decoration around his crotch. gene simmons had that same macho image in rock n roll with KISS and of course, rick used gene's axe bass for the album cover and after listening to the entire album, I have to say that my love is the best song on the album in which my friend from buffalo new york was telling me that was rick james mother's favorite song off the album. ive had the song "throwin down" stuck in my head for two days now because of the bassline.....
