Eye never said that Robin Thick sound like Prince. Pay attention I said his album sounds like a produced album by Prince. 3rd eye girl don't sound like Prince but they're produced by him, "right"?

I can hear a Prince influence on the track "4 The Rest Of My Life" which kinda reminds me of "Adore",but that's it.The production throughout the album doesn't sound like Prince at all.

The single that he has out now sounds like a song the Prince produced.

I'm curious to know if we'll get a vinyl edition of the album. I'd really love that.

I don't hear prince much. My first comparisons were Marvin Gaye, mj, earth wind & fire, George benson, maybe even some George Michael and Jon b. he's no poor mans Justin timberlake, he was in the industry longer than if not the same amount of time as Justin writing hits for people and being influenced by r&b/soul music

My mom just watch Mr. Thicke preform blurred lines and informed me that he sounded a lot like

Prince. (She has never heard of Robin Thicke before.).

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

I still disagree lol this album doesn't sound like a Prince-produced album.Prince isn't even into these types of sounds (Timbaland's distinctive electro-pop,Pharrell's minimalist funk..the disco-sounding tracks....).The only Prince influence I hear is in Robin's vocals, and only at certain times.

Oh boy lol lol lol There's no such things as albums produced by Prince, either he's all over the place and we're talking about Prince albums with someone else on vocals or he doesn't touch the thing at all, even when he produced Larry and Andy (the 2 exceptions) he made them sound just like him, plating and arranging everuthing on them. 3EyeGirl aren't "produced" by Prince, they ARE Prince, it's just a name he puts on the music instead of his, and God they DO sound like him, everything from FixUrLifeUp to Octopus Heart sounds like Prince has always sounded! Everything by 3EG sounds just like Prince, much more than anything ever recorded by Thicke. Dude I'm sorry but obviously you really don't have "ears" at all ^^

So, yall tellin me that robin thicke falsetto style of singing in blurred lines don't sound like a Prince version of kiss. That song sounds like it's featuring TI, Pharrell, and Prince.

falloff

Damn right I am! lol

Everyone and their cousin sing falsetto in the world of AfroAmerican music, and Prince certainly didn't invent this singing technique, so I just don't see why a man singing falsetto should immediately be associated with Prince. It's just as absurd as someone saying a song sunds like Lary Graham just because the bass player slaps (even though Larry DID invent slapping) lol

Lack of musical culture, BELL, lack of musical culture wink

U wanna hear something that sounds like Kiss, go check Annie's I Know Your Girlfriend Hates Me, which is a Kiss rip-off (and Annie acknowledged it in interviews): http://www.vevo.com/watch...UV70800630

I'm listening to it again as I write, u know, just to check again in case I'd be wrong: Thicke's voice just doesn't sound like Prince's at all: that's really just you tripping on the misconception that falsetto = Prince

There's a difference between Prince comparisons (e.g., he's the "new" Prince), and Prince influences (e.g., [song] on [artist's] new album sounds like Prince).

There's way too much of the former. Thicke's 10-11yr career arc in his own right and comparisons to an artist like Prince, who's 35yr career arc is much different, are very hard to make.

There are also way too many generalizations about "blue eyed soul" singers, as Thicke, Mayer Hawthorne, Remy Shand, et al. each have distinct characteristics to their sounds.

I'm not comparing Robin to Prince. rolleyes Robin is a great artist in his own right. If you would stop drinking' the purple kook-aid and open your mind, you would find that there are alot of talented people doing great things.Prince doesn't rule the world!

6. Give It 2 U Feat. Kendrick Lamar

Here's where a lot of Thicke's old fans will start scratching their heads, and where, years later, we'll probably be thinking "Give It 2 U" sounds an awful lot like 2013, though not in the best way. On this club hopeful, Dr. Luke gives an ill-fated will.i.am impression while Thicke sounds about as lyrical as Pitbull, spouting cliché after cliché (though the line "I got a big dick for you" is delivered so free of pretense, it's actually kind of funny). Kendrick Lamar adds an uninspired verse, which doesn't help matters much.

To the public, Prince has a unique but generalized sound . . . almost a caricature of what he really sounds like.

.

Bands that try to sound like Prince actually sound like this caricaturized sound. The Jets, Ready For The World, etc. including impersonators and those who have been influenced by his sound such as Timberlake and Thicke.

.

Does any one of their songs sound like a direct Prince song? No. But overall, they do have "Prince-isms" that are undeniable.

.

There are only a few songs that DIRECTLY sound like Prince to me. D'Angelo's "Untitled" and Natural Selection's "Do Anything" being two of the best ones.

I'm only buying the CD so I can give it a little more in-depth critique.nod Thicke's dick has nothing to do with it. razz I listened to the song on youtube and I actually dig it quite a bit.

Its the mpls sound that everyone is always trying to recreate maybe because its minimalism qualities are the easiest to produce. This song is probably the most Prince like song ever recorded. I bet Prince did a double take when he heard it.
