THIS is suppose to be an electronic music thread and NOT one orger mention Kraftwerk OR Yellow Magic Orchestra, two of THE greatest electronic bands of all time! rolleyes

Allow me to save this thread! mr.green

Without these bands, there is no electonic music or any of its different genres (especially electro, house, italo disco, techno, synth-pop, synth-funk/electro-funk, trance, or EDM in general.). wink

I knew those bands but I think the OP is more current with music.

I threw in Donna Summer

I luv YMO

I took the thread title, The OLD Electronic Muse Thread, seriously. lol

And also, the OP mention no tracks post-1999. So everything I've posted is definitely within the 20th century.

Delia Derbyshire of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop -- Doctor Who Theme (1963 original)

written & composed by Ron Grainer

http://www.youtube.com/wa...5V4ClJZME4

THIS^ track has been remade, covered, remixed, AND rebooted so many times over the years. And most of Delia's arrangements are somehow still intact everytime. She should have been credited as a co-writer to be quite honest. cool

You aint kiddin. Nice to have something to watch but when it takes 10 mins to post we're all a bit fooked. Your thread was prolly the reason so it aint all bad. You mad squirter. biggrin

Started a new "Whats your song thread"

nod That thread, Timmy's new music thread and my 100 songs 2012 (where Timmy mentioned he couldn't really get down with it because of loading time) all existing at the same time made me think we needed to try it a different way. I'll definitely be back in the new Sond of the Day (and the House thread). Just workin' on too many things at once at the moment. Must... focus... lol

ALL electronic music released before the year 2000. We would have got around to some more early stuff eventually, we were just taking a different path for a while. There's a lot of them to explore.

I recognize the importance and influence of Kraftwerk - it's undeniable, actually. But I've never enjoyed their music. Can't explain it. Just don't dig it. shrug

Never really cared for Tangerine Dream all that much, either, but this remix is the shit!

Tangerine Dream - Towards The Evening Star (Mandarin Cream Remix by The Orb) (1997)

The Orb (one of my five favorite "bands", any genre) also did some outstanding remix work for YMO back in 90s...

YMO - Tong Poo (Orb Remix II) (1992)

Hm. There's some other YMO/Orb stuff I want to post but (unbelievably) its not on YouTube. I shall have to remedy that situation, but not until I've converted a few more DJ sets first.

A great album from Ryuichi Sakamoto that I was turned on to by Alex Paterson (of the Orb)...

Ryuchi Sakamoto - Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (1983)

Ryuchi Sakamoto - Beyond Reason (1983)

Ryuchi Sakamoto - Sowing The Seed (1983)

Gah! Getting sucked into the vortex! Must focus on making videos. lol I have a bunch more ideas for stuff to post and I want to respond to what others have posted. Gotta get "things" done...

OK then, got these done. This is the YMO/Orb stuff I wanted to post earlier.

This is the entire Technodon Remixes II in the order they appear on the CD...

YMO - Waterford (A23 Diversion Mix by The Orb) (1993)

YMO - Waterford (A303 One Lane Closed Mix by The Orb) (1993)

YMO - Hi-Tech Hippies (Ground Plan For Perfection Mix by The Orb) (1993)

YMO - Hi-Tech Ambience (Ariel Implosion Mix by The Orb) (1993)

YMO - Nanga Def? (Hope You Choke On Your Whale Meat Mix by The Orb) (1993)

Edit: Weird links not working thing middle of the night fixed it don't know how.
